Recess Reminders
Each child is expected to be suitably dressed for play outdoors. As the weather turns colder, each child needs a winter coat, hat, and gloves.. Snow pants, waterproof boots, warm gloves/mittens are required to be able to play in the snow. All children play outside except on rainy, icy, or very cold days (wind chill below the 10-20 degree range). Inside recess will be held on those exceptional days. A child who is well enough to come to school is well enough to go outside and play. Exceptions will be made if parent/guardians send in a note from the doctor stating that the child needs to stay inside. While each school’s recess safety protocol is unique to its campus and is available on school websites, all ZCS students honor the following safety code: We play together kindly and look after one another. We treat playground equipment with care, and share with others. We respect the adults who look after us. We always tell an adult if we need help resolving a conflict or if someone is injured. We stop and listen for directions when the bell/whistle sounds. We walk sensibly to our lines and quietly to our classroom

Second Step Home Links are simple, fun activities that encourage interaction between students and their adult family members, caregivers, or other important adults. The activities give students a chance to practice Second Step skills outside of school and help families learn about the skills so they can use them at home.

PTO News
Our next dining night is Dec 8 with HotBox Pizza on Michigan Rd. Please make plans to participate! Just mention the dining night when you order.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Unfortunately we will be unable to do our traditional PTO sponsored Cookie Walk this year for Teachers and Staff that so many of you help with. But we have come up with a great alternative to help our teachers feel cared for and appreciated. We need your monetary donations to provide a holiday themed snack cart (prepackaged/individual snack items) and a gift card grab bag. Please use the following link to make a donation: Donate to Eagle Elementary PTO There is a spot where you can add “special instructions for seller”…just make a note there that the money given is for Teacher Services. Also please note if you mark you are paying “friends or family” rather than buying “goods and services” then Eagle PTO is not charged a processing fee.

COVID TESTING
There is some new information on our radar which was confirmed through a conversation with the Boone County Health Department this past week. We want families informed so they can make the best decision for your respective family members.
Some COVID tests are not currently accepted by the Department of Health for return to school/work –
- The only negative result that will allow a child/staff member back into school is a PCR. (Per IN Dept of Health and Boone County Health Department, a negative rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 is not acceptable for a return to school.)
- Schools can accept any antigen test if it comes back positive---We will treat as a positive case (Through this process, we will inform you of isolation/quarantine protocols as required by the state and county health departments.)
- If a family/household member has a PCR antigen test that comes back negative and the individual has no symptoms, then no other testing is necessary. Students can return to school.
- If symptomatic and rapid antigen comes back negative then a follow up PCR test is required due to the high rate of false negatives in the rapid antigen test.
Important NOTE: * If an individual has had a close contact with a positive COVID case, a negative test cannot shorten the quarantine period.
