Six Flags Read to Succeed Program
Hedgcoxe is participating in the Six Flags Read to Succeed program. Students can earn a free ticket to Six Flags by completing 6 hours, or 360 minutes, of recreational reading. Be sure to use the attached reading log to document time spent reading. A parent letter is also attached that gives more information about the program. Reading logs are due to teachers by February 26th.

Students will be studying words with /ü/, /u/, /u/ and the test is scheduled for Friday, February 5.
Students will have a test on capitalization, editing with punctuation marks, and comparative/superlative adjectives. Students have notes in their LA spiral to help them review for the test on Friday.

Math
The mathematical focus is representing and generating fractions to solve problems. Students will represent fractions as a sum of unit fractions, decompose fractions into a sum of fractions, determine fraction equivalence, represent fractions and decimals on a number line, and estimate and solve addition and subtraction problems involving fractions with equal denominators.
Science
Students will begin to understand and communicate the importance of Earth's cycles and systems.
Students will describe how the Earth is constantly changing through the processes of weathering, erosion, and deposition.
