Oak Knoll Elementary

Library Hours: 9:00am ~ 3:45pm

Welcome to Mrs. Sheehan's Library News!!! I am so happy you came for a visit. I have set up this fun and user friendly parent page as a way of staying "in touch" with the families of Oak Knoll. I will be posting valuable tools and information for both parents and students to enjoy. Every month new material will be added to this webpage. However, I will keep some important information posted on the page every month.

A little bit about myself.....

This is my 17th year of teaching!!! WOW!!!! I have been teaching at Oak Knoll for 13 years. This is my second year as the librarian. I absolutely love this job!!! The library is where I was meant to be. Teaching the children of Oak Knoll school the importance of reading, literature, and researching print and digital sources is so rewarding! When children come up to me in the hallway and say, "I can't wait for library!", my heart melts. This is the BEST job in the world!

Come in for a visit!

Parents...I would love for you to come in for a visit. I was a classroom teacher for 15 years and always had on-going contact with my parents. I miss that! I am so proud of all the wonderful things your children are doing in the library and I want you to get an opportunity to see it first hand. Contact me via email to set up a visit! I can't wait :)

What are school library programs offering to the students?

  • promote a desire for life-long learning and a love of reading
  • learn and use 21st century skills of information and technology literacy

Annual reports show how vital school libraries are!

We are always learning and having fun in the library!

Destiny: Oak Knoll's Online Library Catalog

This is so cool!!!!! Destiny is the online library catalog system that Oak Knoll uses to help us locate books. You can now access it from home so you and your child can look for books we have at Oak Knoll! It is very easy to use. Third and Fourth grade students use this during library time to help them find the books the are in search of. They are Pros at it.

When you are brought to the district page, just click on Oak Knoll. You can type in a: Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, or Series. You do not have to change any of the other information. It's ready to go. Now, you can participate in choosing books for your son or daughter !!!! Just write down the title and call number of the book, send the information in on library day, and your child can easily find that book!

  • Take a look at a few pictures of the screens you will see when on Destiny.
  • Click on the link below to start searching Oak Knoll's Library for a good book!
