Fall Book Fair
Every fall we host a scholastic book fair. We do this because we know that homes with libraries selected by students help students become life long readers and learners. Our school library benefits by raising funds to purchase books and updated equipment for our school community.
eWallet is Scholastic's new way to send money for the book fair. Some parents tried this out in the spring and it worked great! You can decide the amount your student can spend and electronically send it using the instructions linked below.
We will set up the book fair on Friday, November 15 and pack up the book fair on Friday, November 22. If you are able to help with set up, pack up or during lunch on conference days, please sign up to help!
All-For-Books is an additional opportunity to help build our library collection and help other schools in need. Every amount donated funds new books for our library. Scholastic matches the donated amount in books and sends them to a school in need. Consider rounding up or donated loose change to this program throughout the week.

Battle of the Books: Grades 4 and 5
Here is how it works. Students form a team of 4 to 6 students in Birmingham School District. Students on one team may attend different schools. One parent of those students needs to volunteer to be a coach. Teams come up with a team name. Coaches register the members of the team, encourage students to read the books, may host group study sessions, and make sure important dates and information is communicated to the team.
Students read as many of the 6 battle books as they can. Teams may choose to attend one of Mrs. Betts' "Cram Sessions" for practice answering questions. Teams may also choose to attend book clubs hosted at Baldwin Public Library. On the day of the battle students will sit with their teams at Groves High School and answer 20 trivia questions about the books. Teams are encouraged to dress up to represent their team name. The top three teams will receive prizes.
