A Message from Mrs. Beam
I hope you are all doing well under a tremendously challenging and rapidly changing set of circumstances. The entire staff at Saint Michael School is dedicated to making these trying times as positive as possible. I urge you to keep up with your assignments, don’t get discouraged if you are still adjusting to studying at home, and please do not hesitate to ask for help.
Please know that someone is the office at least for a few hours each day. Mrs. Gauthier will be at school Monday through Friday from 8:30 - 12:30. I will also be at school until at least 3:00pm each day next week. You may drop off completed student work any of these times. If you need to drop off at a later time, please just let me know and I will meet you at school. To minimize any direct contact, please go directly to Monsignor Rand Hall. Each teacher has a box that you can use to deposit completed work. Also, please check the table for your child’s grade. New packets, of work (as needed) will be clearly labeled for each student and should be picked up.
The uncertainty that continues to exist for all of us during this time is unsettling. I am confident that the kindness, adaptability, and resilience that are hallmarks of our school and parish community will continue to provide strength as we navigate the days ahead.
Please know that you are all in my prayers each day. I ask that you pray for our community as well. May God bless and keep each of you in his most Sacred Heart.
I'm not getting assignments for my student... what do I do?

This week has been a lot of settling in and technology troubleshooting for teachers, parents and students. If you encounter any troubles, please let me know so we can keep your student(s) on track. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
School is closed, but enrollment is still open!
FOR CURRENT SMS FAMILIES: First of all, we love you! Hang in there and life will resume to normal one of these days. If you need anything, would you please reach out to us for support?!
Secondly, we ask that you please take this quiet period of isolation to log in and submit your enrollment packet for next year. Though our school is closed for the next several weeks, we must move forward with accurate enrollment numbers for the fall. Behind the scenes, we are already in the process of making critical planning decisions for 20/21. Because you have already enrolled your student online in FACTS, this year, it is simply a matter of reviewing the data and submitting any changes. Easy Peasy!
We really appreciate you taking this time now to get it done. There are still 10 days left to earn and redeem your enrollment incentive towards some cool SMS gear. If you have any questions or concerns about enrollment , they should be directed to email@example.com. I welcome the communication during this period of school closure.
FOR NEW AND PROSPECTIVE FAMILIES: At this time, our school is closed to the general public and we will not be hosting in person meetings, tours, or student visits for prospective families. We are in the initial planning stages of how to make this work for our interested families during this time. Please stay tuned for details! In the meantime, all admissions inquiries may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Feel free to email your questions and your interest. We are happy to set up a phone meeting too!
The Practice of Spiritual Communion
As we face dioceses, parishes, and bishops that are suspending Masses and lifting obligations, and we discern how to balance keeping holy the Lord's day and preventing the unnecessary spread of sickness, I thought it was worth sharing these notes on the practice of Spiritual Communion. Many of you are likely familiar with this already, but I find that having a form to rely on is always helpful.
Act of Spiritual Communion Prayer:
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at
least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly
Never permit me to be separated from You.

If you live outside of the Windham Southeast community, and you have concerns about feeding your children during this school closure period, we encourage you to find out what your public school is doing. Most public schools are creating Grab & Go meals for youth ages 18 and under, then making them available throughout the community for pickup.
Other Helpful Resources
There is an endless stream of activities and resources to entertain your children and support their learning. Most importantly, we want to reassure you all that we are living in extraordinary times and the most important thing you can do for your family is enjoy being a family right now.
We recognize that there will be days when your students are completely engaged and focused on their tasks, and others when they are bored, tired, overwhelmed, lonely, discouraged etc. Put the lists and homework aside for a moment, and do something that brings peace and joy to your home.
Read scripture, keep a COVID19 journal for daily reflections, put on fun music then dance, color or cook! Go for a walk with your family, or alone if you need to, reach out to a friend or teacher who understands your unique situation and ask for an ear or some advice.
Finally, figure out how to stay connected to God, in the midst of all the noise.
If you need help, let us know. We are here for you.
