How do Christians feel about marriage? What are their views? - ISSUE 1

While marriage is honored and affirmed among christians, there is no suggestion that is is necessary for everyone. Singleness, with it's flexibility, is described as ' a gift ' in the bible. And Jesus, the founder of christianity, was himself unmarried.

What does the bible say about marriage?

Genesis 2:22-24

"The the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said "This is now the bone of my bones and the flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman' for she was taken out of the man." For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother and be united to his life and become one flesh"

How do christians feel about murder? What are their views? -ISSUE 2

Christians must remember that God has instituted capital punishment in his word, therefore, it would be presumptuous of us to think that they could institute a higher standard. God has the highest standard of any being. He is perfect. This standard applies not only to us but himself. Therefore he loves to an infinite degree, and has mercy to an infinite degree. Christians also see that he has a wrath to an infinite degree, and it is all maintained with a perfect balance. This meaning, if you murder (breaking the 5th commandment) God will show you his infinite wrath and give you the death penalty (hell).

What does the bible say about murder?

Exodus 20:13

"You shall not kill"

Leviticus 24:17

" And he that kills any man shall surely be put to death"

Who founded Christianity?

Jesus Christ founded Christianity during the 1st century somewhere between 33 and 38 C.E. We do not know an exact date. Christianity was developed out Judaism.

Christianity Symbols

Ichthys fish- The fish has plenty of other theological overtones as well, for Christ fed the 5,000 with 2 fishes and 5 loaves (a meal recapitulated in Christian love-feasts) and called his disciples "fishers of men." Water baptism, practiced by immersion in the early church, created a parallel between fish and converts.

Cross- The cross is a very important symbol to christians because they believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save everyone of their sins.

Practices

This is where christians practice their religion. It is called a church.

3 practices that happen during a church service

1. Baptism- Being redeemed of your sins

2. Communion- taking bread and win symbolizing Jesus' body and blood he shed for our sins

3. Singing- Singing songs of worship to the Lord
