Japan's Culture

Most Japanese people practice the religion of Buddhism and Shinto. Many people continue to integrate aspects of Shinto and Buddhism in their households. Japanese people use chopsticks to eat most meals. They usually eat foods such as rice, noodles, dumplings, and egg rolls. They usually eat dinner in the evening, and they sit with the father while he eats. Japanese people celebrate the holiday of New Year's, which is when people take off several days of work and visit family and relatives. Children receive money from their parents or grandparents on this holiday. On New Year's they usually eat special foods like mochi which is pounded sticky rice.
