APS Care & Connect
1/8/21
Asheville Primary School Mission
We thought this may be a great time to remind you of our priorities at APS. We believe in building curious learners who are able to view their contribution to their global community and act on it. We believe in talking through big ideas, finding our voices, and using our talents to make a positive difference in our world.
Our staff will continue our work with the Anti-bias Anti-racist Framework for Education. Please join us in providing a brave space to process thoughts and feelings about events this year and to focus on our vision for the future. A brave space encourages dialogue. It recognizes difference and asks that we hold each person accountable to do the work of sharing experiences and coming to new understandings ~a feat that’s often hard, and typically uncomfortable. Start wherever you are and seek to understand the thoughts and feelings of others in order to create a brighter future for our children.
Questions to start a conversation following an event:
- What do you think about the events that took place?
- What would you like to know more about or understand more about the events that happened?
- What similarities/differences do you notice between what you saw/heard and what's in your community?
