Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
March 6th-10th
What's Going On This Week:
- Ms. Harris' Science:This week we are reviewing our Astronomy Unit for our unit test on Friday. The unit spans 7 lessons and students were given a study guide on Thursday to help them prepare. Page 1 of the study guide is due Monday, page 2 on Tuesday, and pages 3 and 4 on Wednesday. The following week we will start our last unit on Weather.
- Ms. Shipp's Social Studies:This week in class we will continue discussions on Pioneers, Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clark, Zebulon Pike as well as the Louisiana Purchase. Vocabulary quiz will be on Tuesday, March 7th. We will also have a quiz on the first section of notes (Lewis & Clark, Daniel Boone, Zebulon Pike, and the Louisiana Purchase) on Tuesday, March 14th.
- Mrs. Leonard's Math: This week we will be working on telling time and calculating elapsed time. There will be a quiz on Friday.
- Mrs. Thurston's Math/ELA: This week in math we are finishing Area and Perimeter and quizzing on Wednesday. In ELA, we are starting our Poetry unit! In Writing we are starting on figurative language and using it in our writing.
- Ms. Harris' GT Math/ELA: This week we will begin a mini unit on telling time and calculating elapsed time. There will be a short quiz on Friday. In ELA, we will start analyzing the parts of a poem and looking at how poems can create vivid imagery. In writing, we will start identifying and creating similes and metaphors.
3rd Quarter Ends Next Wednesday
Any students who are wanting to request to retest must do so by next Wednesday. All missing work must also be turned in by then.
End of the Year Map Testing
Reading MAP will be held on March 20th at 11:30 and Math MAP will be on March 24th at 11:30. We are asking that unless it's an emergency, all students try and be here on those days. If students are absent, they will take their tests later with Mrs. Owens.
All Forms and Money for Golf Field Trip Due Wednesday
Last call for all field trip permission slips and the $7 (Starlab and Golf Trip). If you are interested in being a chaperone, please also let me know by Wednesday.
