mass reflections
Jesus wanted to save the world, not to condemn it. If Jesus saved the world we would seek the light, not the darkness. You should always do the right thing and seek the light even if nobody is watching.
- Eliana, Grade 4
Jesus was not here to judge, but to lead us to the light. Going to the light means to do the right thing. It's not great to do the right thing only when someone is there to give credit but go to the light even when nobody is watching.
- Yuri, Grade 4
Even when no one is watching, everyone should still do the right thing. I do the right thing (almost) all the time. I do seek the light. If you see someone doing something bad, you should tell a trusted adult. That is doing the right thing.
- Mackenzie, Grade 4

- The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (commonly known as Step Up for Students) is a great resource for families. The Scholarship is awarded based on financial need. Please visit https://www.stepupforstudents.org/lower-income-scholarships-ftc-fes/ to learn more.
- SJCS provides a limited amount of financial aid for families. The first step to applying is to be denied the Step Up for Students Scholarship. One piece of your application is a screenshot of the denial from Step Up. This should be submitted to Mrs. Brown in the school office either by hard copy or email. After you are denied Step Up, you can apply for tuition assistance from St. Joseph Catholic School through FACTs. The deadline for current families to apply for tuition assistance through FACTs is TODAY, Thursday, April 15. Do not delay. Be sure your application is complete and submitted by the deadline.
step up for students
Step Up for Students became available to new families in March and is still accepting applications. The website is experiencing high volume of applications. Please do not delay if your family could benefit from this scholarship. If you have trouble logging in due to high volume, we recommend trying to log in at a different time of day as SUFS is not making exceptions for incomplete applications due to difficulty logging in. If you have already submitted your SUFS application, here are some things to consider
ON HOLD - You have not submitted all of the required documents, and your application will not be reviewed until all documents are submitted.
PENDING - All documents have been submitted, and you are awaiting a decision. Please check your account and/or email for important status updates.
Once awarded, please remember to submit your scholarship award letter to the school office as soon as possible.

Gospel Reading This Sunday
Gospel for Sunday, April 18:
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
While the disciples were talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost. He said to them, "Why are you frightened? See that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you." Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things."
The Gospel of the Lord.
