Kia Ora - Be Well
From our Principal
Kia ora koutou e te whānau, hello to our all families,
It has been absolutely delightful to see our tamariki, whānau, kaiako and support staff making such a positive start to learning and teaching in both the personal and academic pathways in term 4.
Our highlights, of course, have been: the 2 new professional looking basket ball hoops, a very cool sandpit and today, a special shipping container designed for bikes. Thanks again to our Home and School team who have played a huge role in making the new sandpit possible. Alongside these very popular items has come the beginning of our term 4 kaupapa, a focus on the ARTS curriculum.
You will be hearing and seeing a lot about the visual arts, music, drama and dance this term - if you have any special talents you would like to share with us, please come on in and let us know. Also keep the evening of Friday 9 December free to see us showcase our learning at the SOMADD Community Concert.
This term is a short 9 weeks with camps and plenty of EOTC (education outside of the classroom) activities for our tamariki to enjoy learning outside and around our community. Thank you to all the whānau who support and make these events possible. We will also continue to focus on strong teaching and learning programmes in math and literacy. So together, between our parents, caregivers, whānau and school our tamariki are in for a fun filled term of exciting learning experiences.
We recognise our whānau as a childs’ first teacher and deeply value the partnership between whānau and school, for this reason, please know that we are more than happy to talk through any wonderings, joys, concerns or celebrations with you.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā, have a great weekend.
Whaea Corinne, Miss Sattler
Check out our new Sandpit!
It is not quite finished yet - there is still a shade sail and some other finishing touches to follow - but we are already having great fun!
This awesome addition to our school was made possible by a very generous donation from the grandparents of a former student and we would all like to say a HUGE thank you to them for their generousity and to Cave Landscapes for constructing a great space for us to play.
New Hoops!
They are SOOO good!
no school Monday
Enjoy the sunny long weekend and we will see you back on Tuesday.
sunhats
It was wonderful to see so many tamariki showing they understand Kia Ora - Be Well and wearing their sun hats this week.
ORDER YOUR PERSONALISED SUNHAT
Featuring our Logo, our Values and Te Mako Matawhero, these hats are a brand new design for our school!
The design is sublimated into the fabric, so there is no embroidering and even better - there is a space to write your name on the inside so your hat will never be lost!
You can pre-order yours from Game Changer:
https://www.gamechanger.org.nz/puketapuschoolThere is a minimum order requirement and the hats take several weeks to manufacture, so the link will be open for three weeks and delivery will be towards the end of Term 4 - ready for Term 1 2023.
Water is Brain Juice!
Water only please - fizzy drinks, flavoured milk drinks and juice are not to be at school.
school values
Our tamariki have been straight back into showing our School Values.
Kallana Bradnock & Greta Phillips showed our school values at Touch on Wednesday night by stepping up to help another team who was short of players. Ka mutu pea korua!
Te Ariki Murray-Green wrote a wonderful story about Mrs Perry! Kia Kaha Te-Ariki
Rico Rauputu & Koen Adams have been superstars at Rubbish Duty and Office Duty
Kei whea mai!
Jada Graham Moore has been showing all our School Values and just look at that smile!
CC Green, Kobie Wilson, Zane Gallichan, Nivahn Clarry & Savannah Tunnicliff-Jury have all been working hard in class this week.
We are lucky to be a Duffy School.
These students received Duffy books this week as a celebration of being Caught Being Good!

It was lovely to see so many players (14 teams) and whānau up at Hickford Park on Wednesday afternoon. Thanks to everyone who helped out in some way. The coaches and subbers do an amazing job! Thanks to those who have stepped into this role again and a special thanks to those who have taken on a role for the first time. You are appreciated!
We loved to see the School Values being shown by all tamariki representing our school.

Our new basketball hoops have been been a hit!
Tōtara 4 & 5 have been playing scientists with their House of Science kit this week. They have been learning about forces using rockets.
