Japanese 1 - Lesson 11
For the week of November 16 - 20, 2015
NCVPS Spirit Week November 16 - 20
This Week's Assignments
Important Information about Assignments
READ THE RUBRICS!!
I can't stress this enough. Some students are turning in fantastic work, but it does not meet the criteria specified in the rubric, resulting in B's and C's rather than the A that they are capable of. Look at the rubric before, during, and after completing the assignment to see if all criteria have been met. This 2nd quarter is a little more difficult, so it is important to get as many points as possible.

Grammar Video for the Week
Please check out the video for the lesson this week. It is short, but will be beneficial to learning the language. You will hear 2 students talk about their likes and dislikes.
Assignment Due Date Changes
This week's assignment due dates are similar to last week. You will finish up with Lesson 10 on Monday and then begin on Lesson 11 on Tuesday. Look ahead to the speaking assignment that will be due on Friday. Look to see what activities will be required of you in order to be successful this week.
This Week's Grammar
We will be learning how to express our likes and dislikes. We will only be able to talk about the "things" we like or dislike after this lesson. However, just think about how beneficial this will be when having conversations with host families or people we meet in Japan!
EOC Projects
Begin looking at EOC Projects that will be due at the beginning of January.
They will take some time to compile, so please begin looking at the requirements now. There are links on the left of the course to the EOC Projects.

LANGUAGE COACHING
Japanese language coaching is an important (and required) component of this online class. Students should be registered for sessions that meet two times per week. Students are required to attend these sessions and their participation is graded. If a student has not attended a session, that time can be made up in 1 of two ways. Go to Blackboard Collaborate, then Recordings, then set the dates for the date range you wish to find. Locate your missed session, listen to the archive, and send an email with a summary of what was covered along with 3 sentences in Japanese that were practiced. OR, if you know in advance you cannot attend the session, please try to attend a different coach's session. The alternate coach will notify me of your participation and you will receive full credit (minus any deductions for arriving late or not being prepared).
Peer Tutoring Center
Contact the PTC by clicking on the link on the left in the course (not "on top" as it says in the image below). If you should need assistance with Japanese or with taking an online course in general, there are students just like you waiting to help!
