Who was Involved?
The Axis powers were a group of countries led by the Nazi Germany, the Kingdom of Italy, and the Empire of Japan. The Allies, led by the United Kingdom, France, and the United States in December 1941.
How did it start?
Hitler's inavasion of Poland in September 1st 1939 drove Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany on September 3rd 1039, and World War II had begun. World War II ended in 1945 and became the deadliest conflict in human history.
What were the Major battles leading up to World War II?
The start of World War II began when Germany invaded Poland. The attack at Pearl Harbor led to the United States involvement in World War II in 1941. Battle of the Moscow in 1941 led to the major turning point of the war. Germany attacked the Soviet Union and lost. The Battle of Okinawa was fought from April 1st to June 22, 1945 and was considered the last battle in World War II (United States fired nuclear weapons.)
