BEAU CHENE HIGH SCHOOL
Adrian Eaglin, Beau Chene midfielder, named MaxPreps National soccer player of the week for Louisiana.
CANKTON ELEMENTARY
While talking about space travel and moon exploration in reading this week, Ms. Granger’s 1st grade students created puppets and a setting of a creative writing story entitled “Lost in Space”.
Cankton Elementary received a QSM grant for the purchase of STEM kits.
Ms. Comeaux’s fourth graders did a “Think Fast” activity this week. Students tested how fast their brain works by catching rulers as their partners dropped them. They measured using centimeters then used the measurements to classify their speeds. Many students were “rocket ships”.
EAST ELEMENTARY
East Elementary students that demonstrated positive behavior for the 2nd quarter were treated to special treats and play time.

KATC TV 3's weatherman Dave Baker visited East Elementary and was a guest speaker for the Kindergarten classes. Mr. Baker went over general weather information that the students had been learning in Science and discussed weather related safety procedures with them.

First grade students at East Elementary recently participated in a DARE program where DARE officer Ashley Barbier instructed them on ways to be safe and drug free.
GROLEE ELEMENTARY
Kindergarten students in Ms. Martel’s class completed a lesson on identifying the middle sound in words.
Students in Ms. Martel's class are working in place value in Math centers.
HIGHLAND ELEMENTARY
A BIG thanks to Jeanne Rougeau from Woodman Life that donated school supplies to Highland Elementary.
KROTZ SPRINGS ELEMENTARY
Congratulations to Mrs. Gaspard’s 3rd grade and Mrs. Bergeaux ‘s 6th grade students of Krotz Springs Elementary. They are the recipients of a $5,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Grant and are very thankful for the materials this will bring to their classrooms.

OPELOUSAS HIGH SCHOOL
Opelousas High School held their Academic Letterman's Ceremony on January 22, 2018. The students earn their jackets by maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout the school year. Tonights inductees are Payton Broussard, Jada Coleman, Bryan Flores, Natalie Hidalgo, Devonte' Johnson, Destiny Lewis, Morgan Ray, Claire Pitre, and Lydia Venable. Earning their bars for a second year of straight A work are Keenan Lamb and Bridget Melancon. Seniors Olivia Adams, Ahraf Swati, Aaron Jackson and Kassidy Stanford earned their bars for a third year of straight A's. Congratulations OHS Big Cats!
PALMETTO ELEMENTARY
Students who have honor roll (A/B’s with no C) are treated to “special breakfast.”
Students who have 4.0 are Kings and Queens for the day. They get to eat their lunch on “fancy” dishes and wear a crown.
