The 3rd Nine Weeks is Over
You've seen this picture before. (Scroll down a bit if you're on a phone.) This guided some of my decision making. If you have any questions about your grade, send me an email.
Updates - Back to School and STAAR
The Governor has cancelled STAAR for this year. I'm disappointed because this was your chance to show off how smart you are. Of course, for many of your schoolmates, this is great news because they struggle with the test. Everyone still has to pass their courses, but the STAAR test won't stand in their way of advancing to high school.
Our superintendent has cancelled school through Friday, April 10. (That's Good Friday.) The following Monday was supposed to be a holiday, but probably won't be now.
So plan to be back in school on Monday, April 13 (or Tuesday, April 14).
Course Work for 4th Nine Weeks
We want to be caught up when school is back in session. The more you do now, the less you have to worry about later.
Challenge of the Mind
Here's your checklist. All of this needs to be finished by the time your return to school. Why? Because otherwise, you'll never get it done.
- The paper. You should already have 750 words written. By the time school's back in session, you should be finished. (Enc 6: 1,000; Enc 7 and 8: 1,250)
- Works Cited. Most of Enc 6 have finished; some of Enc 7 and 8. This is the LAST page of the paper; not a separate file.
- The Research Poem. This should already be finished.
- Your 3rd Person Biography. This should already be finished. I know a few students did not do it correctly; perhaps you can fix it during this break.
- Word Art Cover Page (Enc 7 and 8). Go to this site when your paper is finished and make a "Word Cloud." The directions are there; if you have trouble, email me.
- Three Collages (Enc 6). You're all finished, right? Personal, College, and Topic (Cover Page)
Get all of this finished so that when we return, we can finish the cars, masks, and shields.
If you complete something for the paper,
like the poem, works cited, or complete word count,
let me know, and I’ll get that checked off for you.
Each campus is going to have their own Challenge of the Mind Exhibit rather than having the full district one. Ours will be in the MPR with some classes allowed to visit during the day and an evening showing for parents.
