- born on January 17 1982 in Chicago Illinois
- shortly after birth his parents separated
- his mother was given custody of him and his 5- year-old sister Tragil
- struggled financially and was eventually forced to go on welfare
- at 8 things took a better turn for him
- he was tricked by his sister he thought she was taking him to the movies instead they went to a different south side neighborhood
- Tragil then left Wade to stay with his father who had remarried
- The move had changed Wades life
- A year later Wade's father moved the family to Robin Illinois
- Wade attended Harold L. Riches high school in Oak Lawn
- his older step brother Demetrous had already named himself the star of the basketball team
- he initially found more success as a wide receiver on the football team
- Wade worked hard to earn regular time on the varsity basketball court during his junior year
- Wade worked harder on his skills and he emerged to be the new star
- he averaged 20.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in his junior year
- in his senior year he averaged 27 points and 11 rebound per game
- due to his bad grades he was only recruited by three basketball programs
- wade says that his high school coach Jack Fitzgerald was one of the most positive influences in his life during this time
marriage
- wade married his high school girlfriend Siohvaughn Funches
- with whom he had his two sons Zarie born in 2001 and Zion born in 2007.
- the couple divorced in 2007 and in 2011 wade obtained full custody of both Zarie and Zion.

what did he go through making it to the NBA
wade chose to attend Marquette University in Milwaukee Wisconsin. in wades junior year he led Marquette to the schools first conference USA championship, and a return to the final four for the first time since 1977. due to his newfound fame and success. wade decided to forgo his senior year and instead enter the 2003 NBA draft he was selected by Miami Heat. in his first season the Chicago-area native who also flashed his athletic brilliance for Marquette university achieved NBA All-Rookie team status with the miami heat. before he knew it Dwyane was an Olympian representing the united states in the 2004 Athens Summer games and recently brought home the gold representing the USA in the 2008 Olympic set in Bejing

toughest game
my toughest game was in 2007 when wade was playing defense when his left
arm collided with Houston's Shane battier and awkwardly stretched
back. The grimacing Heat guard walked off the court hunched over
clutching his arm and briefly sat in tears of pain on the bench. He was then wheeled away and went to a hospital in an ambulance.
