PBS
North Park is a PBiS school. What that means is that we support students with positive language and expectations. We reward students, classrooms and building for putting for their best effort, being responsible and respectful. As we return to school, we will review lessons to remind students of the expectations!
LIbrary News
Parent bulletin blurb: Remember that even though they are renovating, the Moberly Public Library is still open for business! Stop by and find some books to read with your family. Remember, kids who see their parents reading are more likely to read for fun themselves.

Please circle Yes or No
1. Do you feel your child has improved their reading skills? 97% yes
2. Do you read with your child every week? 100% yes
3. Have you attended any school events this year? 84% yes 16% no
4. Additional comments about the books that are sent home weekly. Listed below are a few comments that we received.
The books sent home are awesome. I cannot wait to see what he brings home next. My son really enjoys the books. Some are too easy. Maybe let us know what levels they are. I wish more were on his grade level, but I know it is an issue with what is available. This weeks’ book was more challenging. My daughter enjoys reading the books that are chosen. We love them. My child is starting to improve in reading. She has a lot of fun reading them. She learns new things. Thank you ladies for everything you do. I read with my child every day and I feel that this is an awesome program. Thank you for all of your hard work.

District Assessments
Starting this year, your student will be taking a reading and math assessment called iReady. We’ll be using this assessment to monitor your student’s academic growth.
Our second round of diagnostic assessments through iReady will begin in Dec and end in Jan. Growth will be shared at conferences in the Spring!
Counseling Corner
Kids are Tapping in Counseling! What is Tapping?
Tapping therapy is based on the combined principles of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. Tapping with the fingertips on specific meridian endpoints of the body, while focusing on negative emotions or physical sensations, helps to calm the nervous system, rewire the brain to respond in healthier ways, and restore the body’s balance of energy
The body is equipped with an energy system that travels along pathways known as meridians. Tapping on these meridian endpoints helps to stimulate this system, and when verbally or mentally addressing the root causes of distress, the areas of blocked energy are able to release and flow naturally.
The basic Tapping technique requires you to focus on the negative emotion at hand - a fear, a worry, a bad memory, an unresolved problem, or anything that’s bothering you. While maintaining your mental focus on this issue, you use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times on each of the 9 specific meridian points of the body.
Check out the following link to learn more! You can tap at home with your kids and it’s not just for kids, it helps adults too!

Inclement Weather Communications
When considering school cancellations, the safety of all students in the district is the first consideration. School district personnel drive bus routes to check local conditions firsthand. District personnel then hold conversations with the bus transportation company to gain their perspective. Again, safety is always our top priority. We also consider whether conditions will be changing throughout the day.
In the event of a school cancellation, notice will be provided as soon as a decision is made. Local radio and television stations will be notified, and a notice will be posted on the school district’s web page, Facebook, and Twitter (@MoberlyDistrict). Notification will be sent via TextCaster Spartan Alerts as well.
Early Dismissal: An early dismissal will be used when conditions are expected to get worse throughout the day. This option will be used sparingly and avoided whenever possible. If early dismissal becomes necessary, the district will announce and post dismissal times. The standard early dismissal schedule will be used when possible.
Late Start: A late start option will also be used sparingly and in cases in which conditions are expected to improve fairly quickly in the morning. If late start is utilized, the district will announce the length of the delay. For example, if there will be a 2 hour late start, you would add 2 hours to the typical school start time. In the example of a 2 hour late start, if your child has a 7:30 bus stop time, the new bus stop time would be 9:30. The standard late start schedule will be used when possible.
Buses following Snow Routes: At times, buses will only be following snow routes. These routes can be found on the school website. The school website is www.moberly.k12.mo.us
