Principal's Newsletter
From the Desk of Ms. Clark
September 27, 2018
Dear Parents,
The safety and welfare of our students are our highest priority at Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic School. Our Crisis Management Team continually strives to provide a safe learning environment for all. Our team provides guidelines and action steps to address student and staff safety issues through the implementation of our Crisis Management Plan.
This week and in recent weeks, our students and faculty have been practicing various drills. We will continue to practice these drills throughout our school year. In order to maintain a safe environment for our students to study and learn, it is necessary that we practice our emergency and crisis response plans by having drills designed to exercise our procedures. The goal of any training drill is to improve our ability to protect our students, reduce injuries, and save lives. Drills allow us to evaluate our emergency operations plan and improve our response skills.
In the event of an actual major emergency, procedures to pick up your child may be different than on a regular school day. Any approved emergency contact person should bring proper identification to the school. These procedures are designed for your child’s protection and for your peace of mind. In order to protect students in case of an actual major emergency, students will be released only to the parents and/or other adults listed on the student’s emergency information form. Please ensure that this form along with your MSP account has been updated and contains accurate information.
Take time to discuss your family’s home preparedness plan with your children. You can find information on disaster preparedness on FEMA’s website http://www.ready.gov. The American Red Cross also has outstanding materials. You can obtain Red Cross materials from their web site: http://www.redcross.org.
Thank you for entrusting your most precious children to our care. We partner with you for the safety of your children and are deeply committed to the safety of everyone on our campus. While our primary goal is to focus on learning, efforts are ongoing to provide the safest learning environment possible for every child at Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic School.
God’s blessings,
Ms. Clark
