As we investigate and perform this sequence with pranayama, chakra awareness and mantra, we find that few other exercises can match it for completeness.

Surya namaskara is a practice that has been handed down by the sages of ancient vedic times, kept alive through the millennia by the many people who have benefited.

Surya namaskara is more than just a series of physical exercises, though of course it stretches, massages, tones and stimulates all the muscles, vital organs, and physical parts by alternatively flexing the body forward and backward.

Surya Namaskara comprises the three elements of form, energy and rhythm.

The 12 postures create the physical matrix around which the form of the practice is woven.
These postures generate prana, subtle energy.
Their performance in a steady, rhythmic sequence reflects the rhythm of the universe
(24 hours of the day, 12 months of the year, night and day, etc.).
The rhythmic superimposition of this form and energy on our present body/mind situation brings energizing, balancing and healing effects which are noticeable.
The therapeutic aspects of the practice will be covered, including contraindications and modifications.

Come and try it for yourself and see. These practices are life changing.
