Social-Emotional Health Screenings For 10th and 12th Grade Begins 10/5/2020
In order to address the social and emotional well-being of students amid the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Cape Cod Tech plans to screen 10th and 12th grade students beginning the week of October 5, 2020. We will be utilizing the UCLA Covid-19 Screen for Child/Adolescent Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The information gathered in this screening will be used solely for the purposes of connecting students with necessary resources such as counseling and other outside agencies providing support.
It is important for parents to know that this screening does not formally diagnose PTSD. The results will only be used to connect students with resources, which are all voluntary. Results will only be viewed by the School Counseling Department. Interviews will be conducted confidentially on an individual basis. A copy of the screening that will be used is included in this email.
If you do not want your student to participate in this screening, please click here to complete the opt-out form.
If you have any questions or concerns about the screening, please contact Erica Tasha, School Social Worker etasha@capetech.us 508-432-4500 ext. 2408 or Averill Davis, Lead School Counselor adavis@capetech.us 508-432-4500 ext. 2403.
Thank you for helping us support your student’s social-emotional health!

Good evening everyone,
Well, we are about to enter our second week of school. However, it is also our first week with 9th and 11th graders in the building and 10th and 12th engaging in academic classes. So I guess its our first week but the second time around!
I hope everyone is well. Last week went very well in school. The students did their job in staying socially distant and following our protocols. I know the 9th and 11th graders will again make us proud.
There are a few key reminders for students listed below. Each grade level should review the information and be prepared for tomorrow and the week ahead.
Ninth graders:
If you forgot your exploratory group, click here for Ms. Mador's Landing Page. She is the Ninth Grade Counselor.
Tenth Graders
Note: MENTOR TEACHER CLASSES MAY NOT BEGIN UNTIL WEDNESDAY. YOUR TEACHER WILL CONTACT YOU IF THEY HAVE NOT ALREADY.

September 23rd Update below here
Good evening eveyone,
I need to share with all that students have done a very good job in social distancing, abiding by mask rules, and just being good kids. I know it is only day 3, and the true test will be on day 33.
As we move forward please continue to utilize the Student Daily Wellness Checklist.
Also, a reminder for all parents and guardians, if your student has pending Coronavirus test results, they need to STAY HOME! This is not an option. Again, if your child has been administered a coronavirus test and you are awaiting the results, your child may not attend school until the results return negative. If the result is positive for Coronavirus, please contact Ms. Gretchen Wahtola our school nurse at 508-432-4500.

We will be utilizing the UCLA Covid-19 Screen for Child/Adolescent Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. We are in full (hybrid) session come tomorrow Monday, September 21st. Our tenth and twelfth graders will be coming to school for shop, while our ninth and eleventh graders will log in to their virtual classrooms. There were some changes, so students need to check their student emails for schedule changes.
We will be holding off on the Mentor Teacher Periods for the 1st three days. I explain why later in the newsletter, but I want students to use the time on Monday morning to check their student emails and verify their schedules. If you are confused, please contact your school counselors. (I do not suggest reaching out to me, as I am rarely by my computer during the day. You may not get your answer until 9 pm that night.)
School Counselor Emails:
- Ms. Davis (10th-12th STEAM and Construction shops) adavis@capetech.us
- Ms. Kalbach (10th-12th HHH and Transportation shops) lkalbach@capetech.us

We will see you in person or virtually tomorrow moring. Everyone, get to bed early, so you are ready to learn ion the morning.
Thanks
Mr. Terranova
What's this Mentor Teacher period?
For Monday 9/21, Tuesday 9/22 and Wednesday 9/23 these classes will not meet. I would like students to take this time in the first 3 days to be sure they are ready for their day. Your teachers will reach out to you in the first 3 days to let you know when you need to check in on those periods. If things are going well, the check-in may just be an email during the week. If things are not going well your Mentor Teacher may ask you to join a virtual class daily.
If you have any questions, please email your School Counselor.

For all other students:

Bus Information
Students who do not follow ridership guidelines including wearing a mask and keeping socially distant may be removed from the bus and busing privileges may be revoked. CCT will be placing monitors on buses to ensure the safety of all students.
If in the poll in early August you the parent/guardian selected that you needed bus transportation and now do not need bus transportation, PLEASE contact the school at 508-432-4500 or dmcloughlin@capetech.us. Our buses are filled to capacity and knowing that someone no longer necessitates transportation will provide tremendous relief to our system.

In order to keep students and staff safe we will be placing all 9th and 10th grade academic classes on the 2nd floor when we return in person and all 11th and 12th grade academic classes on the Main Floor when we return in person (October 19th). Academic teachers will be assigned only 9th or 11th graders during the Maroon Cycle or 10th or 12th graders during the Gray Cycle This has led to major scheduling changes and has caused delays.
Student and staff safety and health has been the priority in these changes.
