Cyclone Central Remote Edition
May 22, 2020
A Message From Mrs. Rateno
Cyclone Family,
Thank you to all who were a part of our kindergarten through 4th grade Supply Pick-up/Farewell Parades this week! It was great to see all of our students/families and say a final farewell in person. I appreciate everyone's efforts to make it a safe and fun event for all!
Next week, we have our 5th grade Supply Pick-up/Farewell Parade/Photo Op as well as several remote class celebrations to close out and celebrate our year together. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about specific plans.
I wish all of you a wonderful three-day weekend and a fun last week of this very unique school year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kate Rateno
Principal, Center Elementary School
5th Grade Farewell Activities
Our staff has been working hard to prepare a Virtual Graduation Video and a Memory Video to share with all of our 5th grade families. Our students will view the Memory Video together during their final Zoom meeting on Tuesday, May 26th, at 10 a.m. Both videos will be shared with 5th grade parents via email on the afternoon of May 26th. We hope you are able to find a special way to celebrate as you watch both of them from home together.
Safety Guidelines/Reminders for our Farewell Parade/Photo Op on May 27th and 28th:
Traffic will be one way. Please enter off of SOM Center Road, and exit onto Wilson Mills Rd. (see map below)
Social distancing will be maintained.
Staff members will wear masks at all times. Staff members will wear gloves and a mask when distributing supplies.
Student supplies will be placed directly into your trunk by a staff member.
Aside from the photo op, there will be NO parking for Center families during this event.
During the photo op experience, pictures will be taken by a staff member or volunteer. These will be emailed to your family at a later time. Families may take additional pictures, but no cameras or phones may be passed to staff members or volunteers for this by families.
No gifts or cards should be exchanged between families and staff members.
Thank you for helping us to make this a safe and fun event for all!
Report Cards and Grades:
We are alternating the way that we are assigning grades to students. It is very difficult to give formal tests or exams to students at this time, and we recognize that this learning situation has not been optimal. Here is our plan for giving grades/report cards:

HELPING HANDS
Cleveland Food Bank
In need of food? Contact Our Help Center at 216.738.2067
In 2012, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank launched a new benefits outreach initiative unique among food banks across the nation.
Our Help Center - dedicated to connecting food insecure individuals with the assistance they need – allows callers and walk-in clients the opportunity to complete an application for several government assistance programs. Clients can apply for SNAP (formerly food stamps) and more than 20 other programs with one of our benefits counselors. Calls are free and confidential.
In the Food Bank service area, one in six people are food insecure. For children, those numbers are more dismal. More than one in five children in our service area is at risk of hunger.
We understand that people need a helping hand during hard times. Many turn to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank for help! We serve clients from Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Richland and Ashland Counties and we can connect those in need to partner agencies, hot meals and mobile pantries that are nearby. In addition, we can help you submit a SNAP application by phone!
Call us today at 216.738.2067 or toll-free at 855.738.2067.
