Message from Dr. Mondloch
Dear Collins Coyotes Families:
Earlier this morning, the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department announced the first fatality associated with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Pierce County. Sadly, this person is a parent in the Collins community. I recognize the sorrow and fear that comes from an announcement like this.
I am sad that our staff, families and students have to deal with a loss during these uncertain times. We are a tightknit community that cares for one another, under all circumstances. Please know that I am committed to offering support for our staff, students and families in all the ways that I am able.
With each COVID-19 case, the health department conducts a disease investigation to determine whether or not others in close proximity should be concerned. They completed their investigation last week and notified all people that might potentially be impacted. If you have specific questions about COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and what you can do to prevent it, please visit https://www.tpchd.org/healthy-people/human-coronavirus. You may also find this resource helpful https://www.healthychildren.org/English/health-issues/conditions/chest-lungs/Pages/2019-Novel-Coronavirus.aspx.
I recognize that these are challenging times in our households, in our community and in our world. Despite the many unknowns, I hope that we can continue to care for one another while reducing the spread of the virus.
I will be sharing additional information later this week about what you can expect in the weeks ahead while schools are closed. In the meantime, feel free to visit www.fpschools.org/closure for additional information.
Best regards,
Barb
