5th Grade Happenings

Camp Carter

Please turn in Camp Carter money as well as medicine forms and background checks for those parents going with us on the trip. All money for parents and students is due on March 31st! Notes were sent home before break stating the amount due. Contact one of the teachers if you need another note!

Math Madness

This week in math we will be finishing up our Countdown to STAAR Bootcamp! Students have been working extremely hard to prepare for the STAAR test next week. The last homework assignment of the year will be sent home Monday and will be due Thursday, March 24th.

In the Science Lab

This week we will be studying producers, consumers, and decomposes. We will also be looking at the carbon dioxide/oxygen cycle.

The Reading Corner

Language Arts classes will have a spelling test on Thursday; students will bring practice home to help them study, and words can be found on Ms Cooper's website. We are counting the days to next week's STAAR test, so in class we will focus on reinforcing skills and building confidence. I know that our students' hard work and dedication will be rewarded with success on this measure of their 5th grade skills! (Parents, please contact your child's teacher if he or she becomes unnecessarily stressed over the prospect of testing, so we can partner with you to ease anxiety.)

Blast from the Past

The students will continue to look at the casualties in American Wars and they will also continue learning about the Reconstructing Period.
