HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 1 Friday 12 February

FROM MARK
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you so much for having your children ready to jump into the school year, for wearing your masks, for being mindful of entering classrooms, for supporting the Parent Teacher Information Sessions, and for being so welcoming. In terms of children returning, the start of school has been smooth and fabulous! We have had a couple of queries about which uniform, what day etc, but as you are aware, we are looking the other way for another week because of some supply issues. All is well!
If you weren’t able to get to the Parent Teacher Session on Tuesday, your child’s teacher will be uploading a PDF of the Powerpoint to Seesaw for you to access and get a sense of the planning for this year.
Edudance commenced this week as well and it has been fun to watch children so engaged with this first term initiative. It gets better every year as children build on the skills learned the year before. It is a lot of fun!
Next week see the first of our Parents and Friends (P&F) meetings as well as our first Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting. Both are really important to the life of Holy Rosary. Both meetings take place in the staff room on the third Tuesday of the month. The P&F meetings run from 6-7. The PAC meetings run from 7-8. P&F meetings are open to all community members. PAC meetings are limited to members elected at the Annual Community Meeting (ACM) last November.
Masks come off on midnight Saturday just in time for Valentines Day on Sunday. Happy Valentines Day!!!!!

STAFF PD
On Thursday 28th January, all Holy Rosary staff gathered together at Boola Bardip - WA Museum - to work with Gerard Pol, Aboriginal Education Consultant from CEWA.
Gerard had created a SeeSaw activity designed to capture observations and wonderings as staff made their way around the Museum. It was an excellent professional development opportunity.
The intention for the day was to spark the curiosity of staff which will guide ongoing professional learning in the area of Aboriginal education, and will culminate in the development of our Aboriginal Education Plan.
MORNING PROTOCOLS
For next week we will continue with the existing protocols, with a minor change to the Pre-Primary time, and changes to our three year old Kindy now that all children are attending their sessions together.

PARKING #3
Even moreso now, please do not park there for the following reasons:
- With no retaining wall, the ground could collapse under your vehicle with catastrophic consequences.
- the request has been made by us many times not to park there
- the owners of the land are going to address the issue proactively and seek support from the Council rangers to police the issue, and fine offenders. So it could cost you!
- we are blessed with loads of parking, however some take a bit of walking.
Please see details below:

BUILDING UPDATE
Thanks to Assistant Principal Dave Edwards for the 'movie'!
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
SIGNING IN AT THE OFFICE:
It is important that everyone signs in at the Office whenever they enter the school between 8:45am and 3:00pm even if only dropping off lunch or forgotten items, in order that we know exactly who is on site.
EMAILS TO TEACHERS:
Please do not send emails directly to Class teachers. All emails are to be sent to admin@hrs.wa.edu.au and they will be forwarded to the teachers.
SICKBAY:
With the Administration Office now in the Science Room there is no longer a dedicated sickbay.
If your child is unwell during the night or in the morning please do not send them to school. If you are called to collect your child but cannot pick them up you will need to make sure we have a phone number for someone else we can contact to come and collect them.
CHILDREN WITH REGULAR ABSENCE DUE TO THERAPY ETC.
If your child will not be attending school on certain days please email admin@hrs.wa.edu stating day/time/reason and if it is for one term or the whole year.
SCHOOL FEES & HEALTH CARE CARD
School fees will be sent to all families via email in the next couple of weeks, we will advise once this has been sent.
If you hold a current Health Care Card, please complete the form below and send by email to admin@hrs.wa.edu.au and bring your card in for photocopying.
Form and current Health Care Card must be provided to the Office to receive discount.
FAMILY INFORMATION FORMS
Please see below for Information and Permission forms.
These forms should be returned to the School Office no later than Thursday 18 February.
The FAMILY DETAILS FORM should be filled in if there are any changes to the details you have previously given us. It is very important that we have updated phone numbers, email addresses and Alternative Contact details (this is important as there is no sick bay). Your child's well being is very important to us.

PASTORAL CARE AND STUDENT WELLBEING NEWS
It is soooo wonderful to be back at school and in the current world we are living in, it is important to remember our blessings, even if we did lose a week! Welcome to our new students and families and welcome back to our wonderful community. Year 2, 4 and 6 programs will commence in the next few weeks and I will continue to touch base with students who have completed either Feelings and Friends or Seasons for Growth previously. It is quite normal to experience back to school nerves and anxiety, and sometimes, once the adrenalin and excitement of week 1 wears off and the tiredness sets in, week 2 can be a bit more of a struggle. Healthy food, early nights, limited screen time and a relaxing bed time routine has been proven to help. I have a range of books and community information available for parent support in the library. Please feel free to drop me an email via the office at any time.

LIBRARY NEWS
Welcome back to your library! It has been a great to start borrowing and I have loved meeting all of our new students. A reminder that the library is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for class borrowing and before school from 8.30-8.45 for individual borrowing. Students need a HR library bag in order to borrow books. Stay tuned for the start of all our usual fun library activities including the junior chess tournament and year 5 Book Club this term. Wheelers eBooks are still on the student iPads and books can be adapted to suit all kinds of readers including increasing the font size and changing backgrounds colours. Happy reading and have a great term!
