Payment for birthday ice creams (for an entire class), must be paid separately by cash or check made payable to Big Creek Elementary. We are unable to pay for class ice cream from your student's lunch account. Please remember to submit payment at least a day in advance of when you would like birthday ice cream distributed.
Thank you!
School Closure and Delay Information
To ensure the safety of our students and staff FCS has a comprehensive plan that is executed when there is consideration of a school closing or delay due to inclement weather.
The decision to close or delay school is made no later than 5:30 am, and communicated using email, phone, social media, and print/broadcast media. To make sure that you receive all messages, please login to your Parent Portal account and make sure your email and phone numbers are current, and that you have selected the appropriate messaging tool (email, phone, text or inbox) especially for emergency messaging.

Action Needed! Please Take the Annual Georgia Parent Survey
We need your feedback! It's time for the annual Georgia Parent Survey. Click below for the survey or copy and paste the link into your browser: http://gshs.gadoe.org/parents
The data collected from the survey will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating which is an indicator in our academic accountability system, the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). More importantly, it helps us to make decisions that positively impact your child's school experience at Big Creek.
You may complete the survey using your personal computer, smartphone or tablet. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.
Box Tops are Due!
February 1st is the deadline to turn in all your Box Tops you collected over the holidays. Our last submission in October we raised $561.20!! It's amazing how fast it adds up, so keep clipping!! Any questions regarding Box Tops please email BoxTops@BigCreekESPTO.com
Do you use Verizon Wireless? If so, please read!!
We recently learned that beginning January 28, Remind 101 users will no longer receive Remind messages as texts if you have Verizon Wireless as your phone carrier.
To make sure you continue receiving Remind messages from Mrs. Webb/Big Creek or from your child's teacher, please either download the mobile app or enable email notifications—both of which are free of charge.
Literacy Night Pizza Dinner
Since this event takes place during dinner time, you have the option of ordering pizza online (whole or by the slice). Please note that the only way to order pizza is through the PTO website prior to the event. No pizza sales will be done at the event. Order pizza here by 7am on February 5.

Big Creek ES PTO proudly announces our 3rd annual Read-A-Thon fundraiser starting February 4th, 2019. Money raised from this fundraiser will help fund STEM purchases for our Wildcat Wonderlab and robotics initiatives including Robotics Morning Lab, Robotics Club and the use of these robotics materials in classrooms. We will have some fun prizes throughout the fundraiser, so be on the lookout for more information. Our goal this year is to raise $30,000 for our school. Flu season is here!

Please refer to the chart below for more information about the difference in symptoms between cold and flu.
A Few Reminders from Nurse G
Please send extra clothes for your child to keep in their back packs. You never know when milk will spill or a mud puddle will call for splashing in. Even the older students can have a need for a change of clothes.
Forsyth County Policy: The policy states that when a child has a fever (100 degrees or above), vomiting or diarrhea, they must be free of these symptoms for 24 hours without any medications for these symptoms (i.e. Tylenol, Motrin, Imodium, Pepto-Bismol, etc.) before they may return to school. Please do not send your child to school if they are sick. This passes germs to everyone else.
No medication should be brought to school with your child. Parents must bring all medications to the clinic- even cough drops. An Administration of Medication Form also is needed for all OTC medications (ie cough drops, Tylenol, etc.). If your child has allergies or a medical condition which requires treatment at school please make sure you complete the forms that were previously sent home. Once completed, please bring those in along with the required medications. If you have any questions, please contact Nurse G.
Cold Weather Clothing: As the weather turns colder, don’t forget those warm coats, hats and gloves. It can be cold at recess on frosty days, so bundle up!
It's Time for Some Mother/Son Fun
The last day to get your tickets for the Mother/Son night is Friday January 25th at 11:59PM. We hope to see you there!

Former Educator Impacts Big Creek as a REALTOR
Last year, you would have seen her out at carpool, in the classroom teaching, and walking the halls of Big Creek. National Board Certified Teacher, Trisha Hoyes, was an educator for 14 years. The last several years of her employment were right here at Big Creek. Wanting more time and flexibility with her family, Trisha changed lanes and became a REALTOR.
Trisha loves our students and the sense of community here at Big Creek. The teachers and parents clearly work together to help students reach their fullest potential. She wanted nothing more than to remain a part of this community by partnering with us to continue to impact students.
She is dedicated to positively impacting our Wildcats even though she is not in the classroom. Trisha’s contributions have provided the memorable Veteran’s Day program last fall, as well as leveled libraries of books for each classroom. She has donated prizes for PTO fundraisers and also volunteered her time at Big Creek events, allowing her a chance to interact with students.
As a REALTOR, Trisha has experience and knowledge of market trends, lending options, and she knows our community well. She is an expert in buying, selling, and rental needs. When listing, her priority is to sell your home quickly and at a price you deserve. She is eager to earn your business and referrals.
If you or someone you know is thinking of making a move, please contact Trisha to see why she is your best choice. Your business will help her continue her contributions here at Big Creek. At your request, she would be happy to provide you with a Buyer’s Market Analysis specific to your home.
Trisha is affiliated with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Georgia Properties located at 33 S Main Street, Suite 250, Alpharetta, GA 30009. Her contact information is 678-435-4770 or trisha.hoyes@bhhsgeorgia.
