Mrs. Ecoff's First Grade Class News

Tuesday, April 5th, 2016

Good Afternoon,

As you may have heard from your son or daughter, I was absent March 21st-24th due to some significant back problems that I was having at that time. My doctor directed me to rest and inquired if I could return to a possible "light duties" day in order to return more quickly. She answered her own question immediately when she recalled that I teach first grade-no! My back is about 80-90% improved from where it was at that time and I'm continuing to work on building up these muscles and now carry on with regular teaching duties as well as caring for my own family.

I had hoped to share information with you about our upcoming field trips as well as summer school at that time, but was unable to do so as I had to focus on healing that week. Please accept my apologies for the late date of this request for your help with these field trips. If there is any way you could support either of our upcoming field trips by being a chaperone, it would improve the quality of the experience for all of our students (and you may just have fun sharing this time with your child, too!) Thank you for your consideration and for your continued support.

Field Trips!

We have two upcoming field trips and we're still looking for chaperones.

1. THIS Friday, April 8, we'll be walking from Hadfield to the Civic Theater in downtown Waukesha to see the performance of Cinderella's Fella. We have purchased two tickets to allow for a seat for chaperones for our class and one seat is available at this time. Please consider joining us! We'll leave Hadfield after we take attendance and lunch count (around 8:45 am) and will plan to return to Hadfield by 11:15 AM for recess. We would need chaperones to meet us at school, walk with us to and from the play and enjoy the play with us.

2. NEXT week, we'll take an environmental field trip as part of our district science curriculum. This field trip will take place on Tuesday, April 12th in the morning and will take place at the EB Shurts building, located on College Avenue (I can give you the address). This is an outdoor field trip where we take a walk along a wooded path and use four of our five senses to explore the natural surroundings. The more chaperones the better for this field trip to allow for us to divide up into smaller groups as we visit stations to explore the outdoors. So far we have one parent chaperone. Please contact Mrs. Ecoff as soon as possible if you would be available to enjoy this time outdoors with us on Tuesday from 8:30am-11:15am.
