A Message from the Principal
Thank you, families, for your patience and support this week! We all had to work through some of the pitfalls (both teachers and families) but it is everyone's collective commitment to our students that has and will always get us through this unique way of instructing students. We are excited to be able to offer a live Google Classroom Support session next Wednesday, September 9th at 2:00 pm. Mrs. Boyko will be providing some tips/tools about Google Classroom and will be available to answer any questions you have. The link to join is below and will be open 15 minutes prior to the session. We hope to see you there!

ATTENDANCE FAQ
Will students fail for attendance this year?
During the 2020-2021 SY, there will be no penalty for not meeting established attendance standards as has always been CCPS protocol. However, CCPS reserves the right to reinstitute the failure for attendance stipulation once students are engaging in face to face instruction in classrooms at least 50% of the time.
Will parents be able to request vacation days?
Parental requests in writing may be granted up to five school days.
If a student is absent will they need to have a note stating the reason for absence?
Yes, a note detailing why the absence occurred should be scanned and/or emailed to the school. If this option is unavailable please contact the school to schedule a time to drop off the note.
Will a student be able to log in to the virtual class lesson/activity at a later time?
Yes. Lessons will be recorded and posted in virtual classrooms for students to view based upon their schedules.
If a student is scheduled for face to face learning and is absent will they be able to view a recording and be counted as present?
A student who is absent from face to face instruction will be counted as absent. A student will be able to view recorded lessons and complete activities as makeup work.

Important School Meals Information
Here's what you need to know:
- Each school will be a distribution site Monday through Friday beginning September 1.
- If you would like to pick up meals for the entire week for your students you can do so beginning the week of September 14th by filling out the weekly meal distribution form. The form needs to be submitted by Friday of the previous week.
- The Food & Nutrition Department will be collaborating with the Transportation Department to deliver meals to select communities throughout Cecil County beginning September 9th. More details to follow.
Specifics on Meal Distribution
- Meal distribution will take place daily between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
- Meals can be picked at any school even if it’s not your student’s homeschool.
- Meals will be distributed based upon eligibility. If your student is a full paying student, meals must be purchased at full price. Breakfast is $1.40 and lunch is $2.75. Students who qualify for free meals and reduced meals will receive breakfast and a lunch at no cost.
- All families are encouraged to fill out a free and reduced meal benefit application. If you require a paper application, you may pick one up at any school building in the county. Paper applications can be dropped off at any school, the Administrative Services Center (900 North East Road, North East), or mailed to the Food & Nutrition office at 900 North East Road North East, MD 21901.
- If your student received benefits based on an application from last school year you must submit a new application by October 14th. On October 15th, any benefit that has not been renewed will expire and your student will go on full paying status.
Have Questions?
Call the CCPS Food & Nutrition Department at 410-996-6257.
Meal Benefit Applications
Did you know that most of our school-wide interventions for academics, behavior, and attendance are funded due to our percentage of families who receive free and reduced meals? The same is true for our funding used to provide family engagement activities. Please help us ensure adequate funding for Perryville Elementary by completing this quick application. Thank you!
