Eagle News and Notes
March 2023
Second Semester
March is here and so far it has been okay. We thought we were going to have a snow day there for a bit, but instead we have lakes in yards and more rain than we know what to do with. So, enjoy the sunshine when we do have it.
This stretch of time is probably the hardest for our students and staff because, unless we have a snow day, it is the longest stretch of time before there is a break. Please encourage your student to stay motivated and on point with their work. It is also the coldest time of the year and we see less sunshine which affects everyone's mood. Warmer weather will help, but we have time before we will get there!!! Good old Northwest Ohio weather!
GO EAGLES!!!
Future Calamity Days
If your student does not log in to each class, you will receive a call from Mrs. Brown or Mrs. Eaton asking why your student is not logged in and it will be marked as an absence if they do not log in. Attendance is being done each period so calls will be occurring throughout the scheduled day if a student does not log in and participate in every class. Please assure that your student is logging in to each class and make Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Eaton's job easier!
That being said, if you know your student will not be online because they are sick or have an appointment, please call this in as you would on an in person day or send an email to nbrown@eastwoodschools.org. That will be noted so they do not have to call and the teacher will not expect them. They can email the teacher to see what they will miss. We appreciate your help with this.
The schedule will be the following:
1st Period 10:00 - 10:30
2nd Period 10:35 - 11:00
3rd Period 11:05 - 1:30
LUNCH 11:30 - 12:00
4th Period 12:05 - 12:30
5th Period 12:35 - 1:00
6th Period 1:05 - 1:30
7th Period 1:35 - 2:00

Senior Immunizations
Meningitis is an inflammation of the protective layer around the brain and spinal cord. This disease can be fatal or leave those who survive it with permanent disabilities. The meningococcal vaccine is the best way to avoid meningitis.
Section 3313.671 of the Ohio Revised Code states that students who do not provide documentation of this immunization are subject to exclusion from school.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding immunizations, please contact Dannelle Sutton, RN, School Nurse at dsutton@eastwoodschools.org or call the Ohio Department of Health Immunization Program hotline at 800-282-0546, or visit the ODH website.
Special Schedules/Dates
March 13 - 2 hour delay (Penta will be bused at normal time)
April 3 - 10 - No School - Spring Break
May 29 - No School
June 1 - Last day for students
Student drop off and Pick up
Morning Drop Off
The buses drop off high school students at the main entrance on the Luckey Rd. side of the building from 7:15 - 7:35.
Families that are dropping off students between 7:15 - 7:35 should use the Sugar Ridge Rd. entrance. We want to avoid cars and buses mixing together during drop off. We had a family pulled up next to a bus this morning and then backed up and did a five point turn to get out of the bus line up. It was not a safe situation for that driver, or staff and students arriving.
Pick Up
In the afternoon, all the buses are parked in the Sugar Ridge Rd. parking lot. Students being picked up by parents can/should be picked up in the Luckey Rd. parking lot.
Thank you for your cooperation in assuring both your student, your personal and our staff's safety.
Medication
Finals Forms has provided some confusion in regards to medication for our students. If your student will need to take medication at school, be it prescription or over the counter, you will need to print out the appropriate form on Final Forms, complete it and send it in to school. You will also need to provide a bottle of medication in its original container. We do not have medication (Tylenol, Advil, etc) to give to students.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the office and speak to the secretaries.
Free and Reduced Applications
Fees - IMPORTANT REMINDER
This is a policy that is set by the board and the secretaries will be adhering to it. If you have a balance, please make arrangements to pay the fees via PaySchoolCentral with a credit card, or in the office with exact cash or a check.
If you would like a copy of the policy, please contact the office and Mrs. Eaton or Mrs. Brown will be happy to provide it to you.
For our families of Seniors: It is also part of board policy that Seniors will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremonies if they have not met all of their obligations prior to the ceremony. This would include fees and community service. Please make sure all fees get paid and community service turned in well before graduation.

Final Forms
Please make sure you and your student update Final Forms if you have not already done so!
So, why do our Penta students need to do this? For many reasons, the most important of which, is to assure that we have the most up-to-date contact information for you for both the school and transportation. We will be sending you things via the postal service and Final Forms throughout the school year and want to assure we have all the proper information. Being out of the building does not mean you are not still an Eagle! Also, if your student is in the building for any reason, then having emergency medical information is crucial, should something happen that would require it.
So, if you are among those who regularly get emails from Mrs. Jody Eaton regarding Final Forms, please go into Final Forms and assure that you and your student have completed and signed off on what needs to be done! You can also go to the school's website (www.eastwoodschools.org), click on the Parent tab at the top of the page and find a link to Final Forms there.
Thank you in advance for assure that this is completed!
