Big picture

Have you heard? Uplift Peak's Name Change Approved by Uplift Board!

We are thrilled to share that the Uplift board approved Uplift Atlas as the new name for Uplift Peak effective this summer. It will take a few months to make the necessary conversions from Peak to Atlas. One of the last items to change will be our exterior building signage which has a longer lead time and might go into the early Fall before being replaced. Otherwise, our plan is to kick off the 2021-22 school year as Uplift Atlas on all other fronts.

We appreciate how bittersweet this moment is for our Peak community. While a name never defines a team or school, it has been a part of our history for almost 20 years. We are excited for Uplift Atlas to represent the high expectations and inclusive community of our school today and in the future.

Dear Uplift Atlas Middle School families,

I am extremely proud of all that we have accomplished this school year, and one of those accomplishments is coming together as a community to select our new campus name. Thank you so much to all who engaged in the process; whether you submitted ideas for the new name in the first survey, attended the committee meeting to discuss all of the ideas submitted, or cast a vote for the final three choices, your voice was heard, and your involvement mattered!

In addition to selecting our new name, we are closing out the year in middle school with a few amazing accomplishments. Our middle school has shown some of the highest daily attendance rates and course pass rates of all middle schools in Uplift! It was a team effort to make sure that scholars attended class and passed their classes, and it paid off in big ways on our end of year STAAR tests. Our scholars demonstrated top performance in the network in the following content areas on STAAR: Algebra I, 8th grade Science, 8th grade Reading, 8th grade Humanities, and 7th grade Reading.

Another accomplishment that I am proud of this year is that we expanded our cultural celebrations and provided meaningful opportunities for our scholars to explore diverse cultures from around the world. This year we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, African American History Month, Arab American Heritage Month, and Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Many thanks to the staff, scholars, and parents who contributed to these important celebrations.

Looking forward to next school year, I am so excited to return to this amazing community as the Director of Uplift Atlas Middle School. I am grateful for the continued support of our parents, guardians, scholars, and staff as we continue on our mission to prepare all of our scholars for success in reaching their goals.

With love and gratitude,

Ms. Cody Meador

Dear scholars and families,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter to introduce myself to you formally as the new Academic Director at Uplift Atlas High School (formerly Uplift Peak High School) for next school year. We have faced some very challenging times over the course of this last year, but I look forward to starting this new chapter in partnership with you. Thank you so much for the warm welcomes so far, with staff, scholars, parents, and leadership.

I have had the privilege of serving within Uplift Education over the past 7 years at multiple different campuses and in many roles. I started as a high school math teacher, serving at both Uplift Luna and Uplift Summit, before making the transition into the Dean role. As a Dean, I have had the privilege to lead both at Uplift Luna and at Uplift Mighty and I am very excited to return to the Dallas community next year and to use my experiences both in the classroom and as an administrator around Uplift to better lead at Uplift Atlas.

Together with my wife Shauna, I am proud to say that I have one daughter who is currently a senior in high school, and another daughter who is a sophomore. Being a parent of high schoolers has allowed me to look at and examine school leadership decisions from different angles and I hope to bring that perspective with me through this transition.

My first goal as we look into the coming years for our school is to listen and learn. Uplift Peak/Atlas has an amazing community with years of tradition and pride that I am honored to be able to join. I hope to soak up your expertise and knowledge as to what is working well, what you’re proud to continue doing, and what you hope might change under new leadership.

As we begin the journey into next year together, it is my deepest hope that we will plan new and exciting ways to engage with the community while increasing our academic standing and ultimately bringing life and joy back to the high school experience. By partnering together, I have no doubt that we can set the stage for incredible years to come.

Be on the lookout for some upcoming chances to be a voice for our school as we roll out our “Chat with Pratt” series.

In service,

Mr. Jordan Pratt
