The Weekly Hoot
January 15 - January 21, 2018
Greetings All -
We made it through the first week back! This one seemed sooooo long! LOL! We all have that three day weekend to look forward to though. And today, even if it is cold and windy, is beautiful! It is a wonderful day to be an Anderson-Shiro Owl!
I love how all of you came back rockin' and rollin' for the new year! Lots of great instruction going on, as well as testing for the end of the semester, as I was out and about this week. I wouldn't expect anything less of ya'll though. :)
Connie and I will begin Mid-Year Conferences next week. Please make sure you know your time from the schedule I gave you on Wednesday.
If you want to purchase your denim passes for the semester (10 for $10), please see Mrs. Corzine. We have them ready to go! This helps us fund all of the little "extras" that we have for you here at school. :)
Beginning next Friday (hopefully!) we will begin putting the Friday announcements in Google Classroom for you to view in the classroom. We are wanting to get our students more involved with the announcements and want to try video announcements with them. This will be done on Fridays only for a few times until we can get the kinks worked out and there will be kinks! I will begin the day at 7:50 as always with the pledges and Moment of Silence and then I will ask you to view the day's announcements. If you have any questions, please get with Connie Wetuski, Joanna Sorenson, or Lisa Lara. I think this will be a fun way for our fifth graders to be more involved on campus.
I have heard through the grapevine, as well as checking myself into a box in the book room upstairs, that our Fountas and Pinnell assessment kits have books missing from them. I feel like they are in classroom libraries or have been put into the leveled libraries upstairs. Please check around and make sure you can get a complete set together. If you have borrowed books from other grade levels, please get those books back to the correct kits.
Something that needs to be discussed that I have seen in person, as well as being mentioned by others, is that we have gotten very comfortable about being on our cell phones during the school day. I definitely understand that when you have an emergency situation, you might need to use your phone, but I have come upon several people on their phone when they are supposed to be in charge of students. That is not okay. Please use your professional judgement about your phone, but also note that during meetings, during CLC, while you are in small groups, or when you are supposed to be instructing or supervising a student is not the time to be talking, texting, or Facebooking. Thank you!
Last thing for this Hoot....once you have finished and had your Sign Off sheet for Friday completed and signed, you may turn it in. You don't have to wait until Friday afternoon. You do have to wait until after you enter your attendance on Friday morning at 9:30. We will run attendance sheets as soon as everyone has posted so PLEASE post your attendance on time on Friday! LOL!
Go out and enjoy this weekend. It's going to be a cold one, but it's a 3-dayer so it should be a good one!
Happy Friday!!
Love to all,
Marcy
