Message From South Administration
January 25, 2022
Dear GP Students and Families,
Welcome to the second semester of the 2021-22 school year. We hope that the new semester is off to a great start! The purpose of this email is to provide you with some updates and reminders as we begin the new semester.
Attendance:
Board Policy allows for 10 absences per semester per course. We will be meeting with students and enforcing the attendance policy when students are absent beyond the allowed absences.
Students need to be in class on time. We have noticed an uptick in tardiness. The tardy policy in the handbook will be enforced and consequences will be issued as a result. We appreciate you making every effort to be in class on time.
A pre-arranged absence form must be turned in prior to an absence if:
you are going to be absent beyond the school-scheduled vacation periods;
or if you must be absent due to participating with a non-school sanctioned competitive team. See your counselor or assistant principal for details.
Athletics:
Student-athletes are required to pass 5 of 7 or 4 of 6 classes (D- is passing).
Grade checks will take place every 3 weeks.
If a student falls below the eligibility requirement, they will have one week to re-establish eligibility and may continue to participate during that week.
If after one week the student has not reestablished eligibility, the student must sit out at least one week from competitions to allow the student to focus on academic obligations.
Students who fall below the eligibility requirement will be required to bring an eligibility form to their teacher(s) to confirm to be signed, indicating that they have sufficiently improved their grade in order to return to practice/competition.
Kindly,
Ms. Cindy Parravano
Mr. Joseph Spryszak
Mr. Brandon Wheeler
