Parent Update- #MPE2getherWeGrow
For General Information about MPE call 281-237-5850
School Starts at 7:55 am and ends at 3:05 pm
Office Hours are 7:40 am - 4:20 pm
From the Principal
Katy ISD adjusted our school times to 7:55 am to 3:05 pm to allow more time for bus cleaning in between routes. We understand and apologize for the long lines once the car rider lane closes at 7:55 am. However, due to COVID-19 many of our processes have been changed to provide additional safety and security protocols.
If your child arrives after 7:55 am, parents are required to park in the front visitor lot and walk them to the front door and check them in via an electronic form. In the event there is a line, please stand on the red X's on the side walk on the east side of the front door. There will be signs on the window with a QR code. To expedite checking in your child, we ask you scan the QR code and fill out the electronic form. If your child is just late and not ill, select the other option for the reason. If your child is ill, please keep them at home and follow the Katy ISD Can My child go to School flowchart. Your child's temperature will be taken by a contactless thermometer by one of our office team members.
Once you have filled out the form, one of our office team members will call your child's name, check for a normal temperature, and send them into the building. At that point, you may return to your car and start your day. In the event you do not have a cell phone, we will have Ipads available.
I strongly encourage you to bring your child to school as early as 7:40 am so you will not have to go through this process. However, I understand things happen sometimes, I simply ask for your patience and support of our campus and staff as we work to comply with safety protocols. Our number one priority is ensuring all our children and staff are safe, and I know you want the same for your child.
Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Martinez

Dot Day September 15th
International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009.
The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe.
Teachers will be reading the book as an interactive read-aloud in all classes during Community Circle time. Please ask your children to wear clothes with dots to celebrate Dot Day.
Happy Birthday to our Panthers for the Week of Sept 12-19th
Character Strong - Purposeful People - Trait of the Month - Courage

Elementary and secondary students can access a temporary ID badge via the Student ID App available on the MyKaty Cloud. More information on this act is available here and on the District webpage at http://www.katyisd.org/dept/fpef/Pages/Homeless.aspx.

Feeling Stressed and Need Someone to Talk to?
The MHSL is not a crisis line, but a help line designed to support families and individuals who may be experiencing mental health stress related to the COVID-19 Pandemic. In addition to a listening ear, the Mental Health Support Line will provide callers with access to mental health support, guidance, and will connect callers to agency and community resources as needed. Individuals can access a Mental Health Professional Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, by calling 713-558-3777. The Mental Health Support Line is offered at no cost in English and Spanish.

From the Nurse
Greetings from the Clinic!
Illness prevention:
- Handwashing (soap and water is best; hand sanitizer is second best)
- Cover your cough/sneeze
- STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK (fever > 100F, vomiting, diarrhea)
Please report all absences to the attendance clerk. A parent note must accompany child's return to school. A doctor's note is required for absences of 5 consecutive days or more.
Be on the lookout for Notification of Immunizations forms which are sent home/emailed at the end of each month for vaccines due the following month.
If your child has recently turned 4 years old, please send the proof of immunizations to the clinic. Most students need additional vaccines before going to kindergarten.
Immunization records can be submitted via fax, email or by sending a copy to school with your student.
Please keep the campus nurse update on any changes to your student's medical information and keep your contact information updated with the registrar.
Please send an extra set of clothing (including socks, underwear, and shoes) in your child's backpack.
Information on medication administration at school, forms for medication administration at school, immunization requirements, and other up to date health service department information can be found on the Katy ISD website Health Services Page.
