Pelican Post

August and September 2018

Welcome

Welcome to the 2018/19 school year! I look forward to a fantastic year of learning, growth, friendships and joy for our students. It is a pleasure and honor to serve your children, and I hope this year is the best year yet!

We have a few staff changes this year. Last year Ms. Eckhart retired, and Ms. Kat Russell has moved to third grade. Mr. Dave Satterberg, previously at Bard Elementary, is joining our sixth grade team. Ms. Glover has moved to E.O. Green Jr. High as an Assistant Principal, and Ms. Sarah Brown is our new Academic Intervention Reading Teacher. Ms. Monica Sides, our former Assistant Principal, is now the Principal of Hueneme Elementary School. I am so excited to welcome the new members of the Pelican Family.

This year we have a new website as well as an app that can be downloaded. Please check it out!

I hope you've had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to a wonderful school year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Tracy Lipsett

Principal

Visitors and Volunteers

Visitors and volunteers are welcome and appreciated at Hollywood Beach School. However, to ensure campus safety and to reduce interruptions during instruction, the following guidelines are in place.

  • All campus visitors and volunteers must sign in at the front office and receive a badge.

  • All adults on campus during school hours, including staff must wear a badge.

  • When visiting the campus for assemblies in the cafeteria such as Student of the Trimester, please allow time to sign in and receive a badge.

  • If there is a class event or celebration, please RSVP with the teacher so they can let the office know that you are expected.

  • Teachers will be called by the front office to approve all visitors and volunteers if there is not prior notification by the teacher. Visitors and volunteers will not be allowed on campus during school hours without teacher’s approval.

  • Teachers may let the office know the schedule for consistent classroom volunteers (e.g. every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.), and will not be called when volunteers come at their scheduled times.

  • Please schedule an appointment after school hours if you wish to speak to your child’s teacher.
