Word From The Woods

Bishop Woods School Newsletter - 2.28.21

Greetings Bishop Woods Families,

I hope this message finds you well. I can not believe we are already entering the month of March! I have much exciting news to share this week:

#1 All of our staff at Bishop Woods will have the opportunity to receive the first round of Covid vaccinations over the next two weeks! This is an important step in keeping everyone safe, and returning to traditional schooling.

#2 Our middle school staff and 50% of our middle school students will be returning to the building for the hybrid model! Students with last names M-Z will return this Thursday, March 4th (unless parents are notified of a change in cohort). Students with last names A-L can return on Monday, March 8th. There is more information for middle school families highlighted below.

#3 Our Pie and Cookie Dough and Elm City Market fundraisers brought in more than $1600 to support our school! Thank you to everyone that participated! Our highest sellers, who will receive a prize, are highlighted below!

#4 We are already at the mid-point of marking period 3! Mid-term progress reports will be ready for next week. While I am sure this is exciting news for many students, since they are able to demonstrate their successes, if your child is struggling, please know there is still time to catch up! Please work with your child's teacher on a success plan so that your child can improve his/her grade over the next few weeks.

8th Grade Families: Please note that the application deadline for Magnet School is this Friday, March 5th. Please reach out to Ms. Nuterangelo, our school counselor, if you have any questions or concerns.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything.

Have a great week ahead!

Mrs. Natalino

Middle School Hybrid Return

As you are aware, our middle school students have the option to return to school with the hybrid model on March 4th. All families have the option to keep their children full remote. If you select the hybrid option, your child will attend in person 2 days/week:

Last Names A-L - Monday & Tuesday

Last Names M-Z - Thursday & Friday

*All students are full remote on Wednesdays to allow for deep cleaning of our school building.

**Based on our return numbers, we will need to move a few students to the opposite cohort. Someone will be in touch this week if your child needs to be changed.

Grade 7 Parents: YOUR CHILD MUST BE COMPLIANT WITH THEIR PHYSICAL AND VACCINES IN ORDER TO RETURN TO SCHOOL IN PERSON. IF HE/SHE IS NOT, YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED SEVERAL NOTICES. NURSE GLORIA WILL ALSO BE BACK IN TOUCH THIS WEEK.

Please see the links below for the hybrid presentation. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me or any school staff member for more information.

Important Reminders for Parents of Hybrid Students

  • Remember to charge your child's device EVERY evening and to send it to school the next day.
  • Do not forget to pack your child a water bottle and supplies.
  • We will be going outside daily (especially now that the snow has melted), so please be sure to dress your child appropriately.
  • Please remember to pre-screen your child before sending him/her to school. If you need to give your child any kind of medicine due to how they are feeling in the morning, you must keep them home.
  • Your child can log in as a remote learner if they are feeling well enough to join class, and will be marked remote present for the day.
  • Please be sure to complete the Bishop Woods Student Absence Form if your child is not in school so that we have record of the reason, and whether or not our school nurse needs to reach out: https://forms.gle/6DZy4s7nWkxMHqc86
