A few words...
Last Wednesday was our first Mass of the New Year and Father Luke held up three fingers to explain these "three" items: last year's calendar, this year's calendar, and his last unopened Christmas gift. In his Homily, he encouraged students to take the time to appreciate their Catholic education and to also be thankful to their parents for offering such a wonderful gift. He also explained how difficult it is to make things right when reviewing and reflecting on our previous year's activities and moments of glory and maybe times of not such glory.
I had the opportunity to work with several students throughout the week and found Father Luke's words as an empowering tool with each situation. As I sat, listening to Father Mike's Homily this morning, I felt a rush of emotion come through me as I prayed and offered thanks, thanks, and more thanks for the opportunity to be able to work with our amazing priests to help form and grow our students closer to Christ. In the seventeen years, I've been in education, I have never been so grateful for having the opportunity to work with students, parents, and educators. There is no class, online course, book, or professional development session that can offer the experiences and exposures the Lord has offered me at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School and Parish. With that said, I pray that In a time of resolutions and fresh starts, may we all keep our priorities focused on teaching and following the Way of Christ.
Last thing...Let's keep Father Mike in our prayers as he mourns the breakdown of the Christmas decorations; and Father Luke, as he enters into Basketball Season. :)
Words from our Pastor
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I would like to personally invite you to join us at our first Festival of Praise on Sunday, January 22nd, from 5:00-6:00pm in the church.
What is a Festival of Praise? It’s a high-energy hour of Adoration, intercessory prayer, worship music, the sharing of Sacred Scripture, and exhortations. It’s an invitation to the Holy Spirit to work among us and bring us closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Come by on the 22nd and check it out! You won’t be disappointed!
God bless,
Fr. Luke
