INFECTION CONTROL TIP, from Meritus Vital Signs
A recent study has shown that stethoscopes have been claimed to serve as potential vectors for pathogenic bacteria, including MRSA and VRE. In a clinical research program at Children's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, 76% of respondents to the survey believed that infection transmission occurs via stethoscopes. However, only 24% reported disinfecting their stethoscope after each use. Please remember the importance of disinfecting your stethoscope to avoid the risk of spreading potentially harmful bacteria.
