New: Families have the option to enroll in the Device Protection Plan
Technology plays an important role in preparing students for life, and Chromebooks are utilized as a daily learning tool in Anoka-Hennepin middle and high school classrooms. Anoka-Hennepin students in grades 6-12 are assigned a Chromebook from the school district to ensure access to technology systems that support classroom learning.
Over 28,000 Chromebooks are distributed to students the first week of school. As careful as students and schools are, accidents do happen each year - and hundreds of Chromebooks are returned at the end of the school year with damages.
The Technology Protection Plan is optional; it is not required, however, by electing not to participate in the Protection Plan, families may be required to reimburse the school district for the replacement or repair of damaged Chromebooks assigned to their student/s. Damaged or broken screens may cost between $100 to $190 depending on parts needed; or the replacement cost for the entire device could be up to $410.
Families can opt-in to the Device Protection Plan:
Log into A-HConnect.
Select “My Student Information,” and then select “Fees.”
Parents must select or decline coverage under the Device Protection Plan.
If you forget your login and password, call 763-506-HELP (4357) or email 506help@ahschools.us.
The plan cost is $20 per student or $60 per family per school year.
If the student qualifies for reduced priced meals, the cost of the Protection Plan will be reduced to $10 ($30 for families).
If the student qualifies for free school meals, the cost will be reduced to zero.

Students Leaving Early
Now that school is in full force we would like to recap our procedure for students leaving early during the school day. Please take the time to read through this procedure as this is extremely important information that helps all parties involved. Thank you.
Reporting That You Need to Pick Up Your Student Early
If your student needs to be picked up early from school for an appointment or personal reason, there are five ways you can contact the office:
- Send a note with your student to school ahead of time or the morning of.
- Call the absence line at 763-506-5806 and leave a message, or call the RMS main line and press option #1.
- Use your ParentVue app on your mobile device
- Login to your A-HConnect account and go to the "My Student Information" application.
- Speak to the Attendance Secretary directly by calling 763-506-5800, option #2.
Daily Cut Off Time to Contact Roosevelt to Pick-Up Your Student
It is best practice to notify the Attendance Office prior to the school day starting, however if you are unable to do so, please notify the Attendance Office by one of the five ways above at least two hours prior to picking up your student.
Due to the busyness of the office at the end of the school day, please do not call us after 2:30 p.m. to pick up your student by 3:05 p.m. or to ask us to tell your student that they will be going home a different way after school.
Pick-up and Student Sign-out Procedure
Any student leaving early from school, whether they are going home ill or leaving for an appointment/personal reason, needs to be signed out by a parent/guardian in the Attendance Office. Therefore you will need your ID to enter through the school security system, door #1.
This process is in play throughout the school day from 8:25 a.m to 3:05 p.m., so please plan accordingly, including parking.
Parking
After 2:30 p.m., you must enter the West Parking Lot. Please note that cars start lining up around 2 p.m. in the parent pick-up line, so you will need to maneuver around those cars to park in the visitor's parking section. If you are stopped by a parking attendant, tell them you are here to sign your student out early for an appointment. Then you will need to proceed to door #1 with your ID to sign-out your student.
What Happens If you do Not Contact the School Ahead of Time
Not notifying RMS ahead of time will cause delays in getting your student out of class, to their locker and to the office. To understand why delays happen please understand the following:
- We have student workers deliver passes to excuse students from class, this can take time depending on where our student workers are at the time you come. We do not call into classrooms in this situation.
- If it is passing time, we need to wait for your student to get into their next class and send them a pass via student worker.
- If your student is in lunch we need to find them in the lunchroom.
- If your student is in phy-ed, it takes longer to get a hold of the teacher, especially if they are outside.
- Certain times of the day, the office is not fully staffed, therefore you may need to wait longer to be helped.

Boundary Changes
Boundary changes: Review proposals, timeline and feedback
(09/27/2022) The district has a system in place to ensure students are receiving a high-quality education while maximizing the efficiency of the budget. By acting now, the district aims to equitably serve all students for years to come. Watch a three-minute video to get insight into the need for boundary changes, now.
Anoka-Hennepin Schools presented proposed attendance area maps and collected community feedback at a community meeting held Sept. 21 at Blaine High School. Proposals shared at the meeting identify three neighborhoods that would be relocated out of the Sunrise Elementary attendance area and into McKinley Elementary, Johnsville Elementary or Jefferson Elementary; and adjustments at the middle school level to balance enrollment.
Learn more about the timeline for implementation.
Read updates shared districtwide, and by community clusters.
A formal presentation of all proposals and initial feedback from the community was presented to the School Board at its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, Sept. 26.
A second community meeting for the Blaine cluster of schools will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. in the Blaine High School cafeteria.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The school district is compiling frequently asked questions (FAQs) received from the community and employees related to the process for establishing new attendance boundaries for schools. Visit ahschools.us/boundaryFAQs to review a list of answers and explanations.
Feedback
Attendance boundary feedback is being formally collected at ahschools.us/boundaryfeedback. Families and community members are encouraged to complete the survey to ensure ideas, concerns and input are considered in future planning and discussions. The Anoka-Hennepin School District appreciates and values family and community participation in the boundary change process.
Parents Needed for Special Education Advisory Council
Join the district’s Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school year. A broad range of parents/guardians are needed, from those representing early childhood, all the way to elementary, middle school, high school, and transition-aged students - with a full continuum of student disabilities.
Those interested in participating in future meetings should complete an application either by completing a Google form, or by contacting Mary Esch at 763-506-1362, or mary.esch@ahschools.us. Parents/guardians who wish to be part of SEAC are asked to make an effort to attend all four meetings as council members. The application process will close October 10. Learn more about SEAC and what it means to be involved.
Apply for Educational Benefits for the 2022-23 School Year
All Anoka-Hennepin families are encouraged to apply for the educational benefits program for the upcoming school year. A new application must be submitted each school year.
By completing this application, students may receive free or reduced fees for transportation, meals, academic, and co-curricular activities. Please visit ahschools.us/freereduced to set up, or log in to your SchoolCafe account and complete an application for free or reduced-price meal and other benefits. The educational benefits program not only ensures that students have access to nutritious meals, it also provides critical federal funding for schools.
As a reminder, the federal subsidy to provide free school meals for every student will no longer be available this school year. Only one application is needed per household. Please contact the child nutrition department with any questions or assistance at 763-506-1240 or staff.CnpEnrollment@ahschools.us.
