Mrs. Beard

Principal

Ice Cream Social!

We are getting excited for the start of the 2021-2022 school year! Please join us on Monday, August 2 for our Ice Cream Social for students in grades 1-5 from 5:00-5:45 or 5:45-6:30.

In order to reduce the number of families visiting the classrooms at one time, we are recommending:

  • Families with last names that start with A-M, please come to the Ice Cream Social from 5:00-5:45 pm.
  • Families with last names that start with N-Z, please come to the Ice Cream Social from 5:45-6:30 pm.

If your family is not able to attend during your recommended time, please come at the time that works best for your family.

***Feel free to take your student's school supplies to his or her classroom on Ice Cream Social Night!

This will be the time for your child to meet their teacher before our first student day on Wednesday, Aug. 4. We look forward to you joining us for this fun event!

*If any family missed Kindergarten Orientation, you are welcome to visit on the night of Ice Cream Social. However, please note kindergarten teachers will not be present.

Arrival and Visitors - The First Days of School

Bus Riders will be dismissed from the bus by grade level. Older students will be dismissed first and will report directly to their classrooms. K-2 students will be escorted to their classrooms by assistants and volunteers.

Parents may choose to bring their students on the first days of school and may enter through the front entrance and escort their student to class. Beginning Monday, August 9th, students will need to walk on their own to their classrooms. Staff will be present in the hallways to help.

Visitors during the school day will be limited. Parents who would like to schedule a conference or meeting with their child’s teacher during the school day, in the future, may do so by contacting the teacher and requesting an appointment. Visits to the classroom without teacher notification and approval are prohibited. Visitation may also be further impacted by any future COVID related protocols.

Car Rider Info - Please note some times have changed from last school year!!

Arrival 8:10-8:30 a.m: Parents should follow the “U” shaped line up formation on the west side of the school building. Students will stay in the car and should have items ready to go (mask on, backpack, lunch bag, etc.). Students should WAIT for the FH staff member to release them from their car. When the adult signals, student(s) should exit their car and walk on the yellow line into the entry door and go directly to class. Students are tardy after 8:30 am. Parents must park in the front parking lot and walk their student to the foyer of FH to sign in.

Dismissal-. Car Rider Dismissal will begin at 3:15 p.m. (School actually dismisses at 3:30pm.) Parents will line up in the same "U" shaped formation as the AM process. Watch for staff direction - If there are numerous cars, we will line up 2 lanes of cars and merge the cars into one lane as you approach the school curb. FH staff members will call for students based on your car tag - Please make sure to have ID in case it needs to be checked. (***The first few weeks-everyone will need to show ID.) Each student will have a number that corresponds to the car tag number of the parent. Parents are expected to get out of car, if needed, and help their students get into the car. *If you have a car tag from last year, you can discard it.

*Please be patient with us - Car Rider line does take a longer time when the school year first starts - The timing will improve as the year goes on!!!

KINDERGARTEN BUS RIDERS - IMPORTANT INFO!!!

FROM THE TRANSPORTATION DEPT :

A PARENT/GUARDIAN (or designated person) MUST meet his/her kindergarten student each day at the afternoon bus stop. An older sibling may be permitted with a signed and dated note from the parent/guardian. If a bus driver finds that a parent/guardian is not present and awaiting the safe delivery of their kindergarten child, the child will remain on the bus under the supervision of the bus driver.

Upon finishing their route, bus drivers will take kindergarten students back to their home school, and the parent/guardian will be contacted to reunite them with the student. This procedure is considered the safest approach, but it comes at an added cost to the school district in both time and money and cannot be allowed to happen multiple times without consequence.

The first offense will result in a letter to the parent/guardian advising them of the safety concern and of the consequences for a repeat offense. The second offense will result in a suspension of bus privileges for a period of three days. The third offense will result in the student being removed from the bus for the remainder of the school year.

Thank you for your help in ensuring that a parent/guardian or designee is present to greet your kindergarten child when they are dropped off at their bus stop. We know the importance of the partnership between family and school, and we want to do everything possible to keep your child safe while in our care.
