Anorexic vs Obsese
The race to towards a better life
Introduction
Christina and Stacy are sisters and they both have unhealthy weights. They both have made a goal to reach a healthy weight. Christina is severely underweight (anorexic) and Stacy is overweight (obese). Christina is 5"5' tall and weighs 37.6 kgs. Stacy is also 5"5' tall and weighs 70 kgs. Their doctors have said that Christine has to gain 1 kg per week and Stacy has to lose 1 kg per week. When they both have healthy weights, they have reached their goal. Their healthy has to be at least 51.5 kgs. This linear system shows when the sister's will have the same weight.
X and Y Values
x= number of weeks
y= weight (kg)
Christina:
y=x+34
Stacy:
y=-x+70
Linear System Solution:
-x+70=x+34
-x+70+x=x+34+x
70=2x+34
70-34=2x
36=2x
36/2=2x/2
18=x
y=18+34
y=52
Intersect:
(18,52)
Christina and Stacy graphed this equation because, they wanted to find out when they would have the same weight. When both girls are the same weight, they can help each other to continue to live healthy lives and stop each other from reverting back to their unhealthy weights by maintaining their new weights.
In 18 weeks, Christina and Stacy will both weight 52 kg.
