CHHS World Language Students Achievements
Congratulations to some excellent CHHS World Language students!
Four teams from CHHS earned high marks from The 2020 Learning Through Languages High School Research Symposium which is a unique way for North Carolina world language students to conduct and present preliminary research in their language of study. The goals are for students to learn about a topic of significance to a world region, produce informational writing in their target language aimed at an academic audience while developing digital technology skills through the creation of a project visual. Japanese, French and Spanish students from CHHS all entered written briefings and a project visual that were judged by panels of UNC and Duke Faculty.
The first Japanese team, consisting of Jacob Wiener and Charlotte Vollins, earned an excellent rating for their research on social justice in Africa. The second Japanese team, consisting of Andre Cardona, Emma Dragan and Yuuka Yamamoto received an excellent rating for their research of the COVID-19 impact in Asia. The French team, consisting of Dimitri Verdier, earned a superior rating for his research on the impact of COVID-19 in Asia. The Spanish team, consisting of Benjamin Knight, Olivia Kornstein and Abigail Weber, earned a superior rating for their research on the impact of COVID-19 in Western Europe.

[Urgent Request] Underclassmen Pictures
Parents of and 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students,
The yearbook staff hopes this message finds you well-rested and ready to tackle the second half of the school year. We are currently working on creating a truly unique yearbook to chronicle this decidedly different school year.
In this effort, we need your assistance! Underclass picture day has come and gone, there are no plans to have a makeup date due to the resurgence in COVID infections in Orange County. What we are planning to do, in order to get as many students included in the yearbook as possible, is to have the students submit a photo of themselves to replace the one that Lifetouch would normally provide for inclusion in the class section of the yearbook.
The due date for submission of this picture is Friday, January 22, 2021, and instructions on how to submit a photo are available to the students through their Google Classroom accounts in the classroom created for their graduating class. Simply log into your school's Google accounts, go to Google Classroom, click on the Class of 202X YB link, then follow the directions posted in the stream feed where explicit directions are detailed for you.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mr. Stanfa at firstname.lastname@example.org.

There is NO exception to this per state guidelines. Each school will develop a testing plan utilizing all of the safety protocols and will provide communication to families regarding testing dates and times. This document provides details of Phase 1 and Phase 2 assessments.
The application for CDM is open from January 3rd and the window will close on January 15th. Application Form

Athletic Contest Spectator Protocols
Athletic contests begin this week! To keep our student-athletes safe and on the field of play we cannot allow spectators at this time. Only players, coaches, officials, clock operators, and school administration will be allowed at athletic events. CHCCS not only has to observe North Carolina COVID guidelines and NCHSAA guidelines we also must follow the COVID guidelines established by the Orange County Health Department. These guidelines limit outdoor events to 50 total people. Compliance with these guidelines will help us keep our student-athletes safe and participating in high school athletics.
Good news! We do have a way for parents/guardians and fans to view our athletic events. We will be able to live stream stadium events through our new Pixellot camera system. If you are interested in purchasing a live stream of this event please click on this LINK. For a small fee, you can purchase a monthly or seasonal pass to view athletic contests.
Thank you for your understanding and patience!
