Coin War for Leukemia Lymphoma Society

Please have your student(s) wear yellow or gold on Wednesday, March 14 to show support for the Leukemia Lymphoma coin war!

Last year, Lakeview raised $2000 for the Leukemia Lymphoma society, an organization that is dear to the heart of a Lakeview staff member. We had an assembly to kickoff the coin war that will run from from now until Spring Break. All funds will be donated to the LLS cause. Please support the effort by bringing your spare change (or maybe a few bigger donations as well). There will be prizes for winning grade levels in this coin war.

Concert March 22

Remember that the Spring Concert is on March 22nd at South Milwaukee High School. All students in grades 5K-5th are in the concert. Students should arrive in the high school commons (lunchroom) at 6:15 p.m. that evening. The concert starts at 6:30 and is done by 7:45. See you there!

Smart Smiles

Lakeview will again be participating in the Smart Smiles program, a free dental wellness checkup program. Checkups will be the week of March 20, but families must register in advance. Paper forms were sent home or you can sign up online by clicking this link or by using the QR codes below. This is a great program - we encourage everyone to sign up.

Forward Test for Grades 3-5

Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take the annual, statewide Forward Exam starting on Monday, April 3. Students in grades 3 through 5 will take a portion of the test every day from April 3-7, with some testing going into the following week as well.

We ask that you please make sure your student is in school each day of the testing so that students do not need to miss additional class time for makeup testing. We will need everyone back right away on the first day back after spring break, which is Monday, April 3. If you have any questions about Forward testing, please contact Mr. Sepersky

Rock Paper Scissors Tournament

The Lakeview PTO will be hosting a fun, new event called a "Rock Paper Scissors Tournament."

Thursday, April 13

5:30 p.m. in the Lakeview gym

$5 per competitor (to pay for prizes) plus there is a T-shirt available for an additional fee (must order ahead of time)

Last week, all students received a flyer about the event. Click the PDF below for the flyer and return it to school. T-shirt orders must be received by Monday, March 13.

PBIS Update

Each month, we provide families with an update on our Positive Behavior systems at Lakeview. Lakeview has been collecting data on all of the unexpected behaviors that happen this year to identify trends. (We also celebrate positive behaviors with Pride Perks and Golden Lions, of course!) The good news is that 8 out of 10 of our students at Lakeview follow our expectations every day. This is the mark of a successful behavior system, and we are proud of our students. Here is the data:

67% of students (206 students) have no entries for unexpected behaviors the entire year!

12% of students (38 students) have one entry this entire year

12% of students (36 students) have 2-5 entries this entire year

9% of students (28 students) have 6+ entries this year

We encourage families to use the same language at home as we do at school.

Be safe ~ Be respectful ~ Be engaged are great expectations for everything in life.

When unexpected things happen (and they do, because we are working with kids), we use those as moments to learn. There are consequences, such as missing part or all of recess, but the real learning comes from the conversation with the teacher or the restorative conversation with the student that may have been hurt physically or emotionally. Our teachers are great at making those moments impactful to change future behaviors.

4K Registration for 2023-24 is open
