Sunny Heights Families,

Spring Break is here and we have a great deal to celebrate! The 3rd grade finished the quarter strong with IREAD3 testing and we had a great time at Sunny Celebration! Students and staff will return to school on Monday, April 1...not a joke :). The month of April will be very important for our school with iLEARN testing in 3rd and 4th grade.

I would like to give a great big THANK YOU to all of our students, families, and staff that have made the first 135 days of school a success in many ways. I hope everyone is able to have an enjoyable Spring Break and come back in April ready to continue SOARING @OURHeights!!

PTA Presents......Popcornopolis!!

April 1st – April 17th Sunny Heights students will be selling Popcornopolis popcorn.

The flavor selection will be these five:

Caramel, Jalapeno Cheddar, Kettle Corn, Unicorn and Zebra

Prices will range from $7 - $39.

There will be prizes for each student who participates!

Healthy Smiles

Healthy Smiles is coming to Sunny Heights Elementary on April 4th & 5th. Healthy Smiles is a school-based dental program providing check-ups, cleaning, x-rays, and dental education among other things to students. All students are eligible for this service. information and registration forms were sent home with your child earlier this week. Please return these forms to the school clinic as soon as possible or by April 4th. If you have any questions regarding Healthy Smiles, please call 317-894-8370 or email at info@indysmiles.org.

3rd and 4th graders will take the new statewide assessment called ILEARN. This is the assessment that has replaced ISTEP. The ILEARN testing window opens on Monday, April 22nd. ILEARN measures student achievement and growth according to Indiana Academic Standards. ILEARN is the summative accountability assessment for Indiana students and assesses the areas of Language Arts and Math. Fourth grade will have additional Science assessment that they will complete. Mission Statement: The EXCEL Program is designed to meet the unique academic and affective needs of highly talented students through a cooperative, enriched, and accelerated academic program where each person feels significant and appreciated.

The curriculum in the EXCEL program is differentiated and faster paced. Students will work above grade level.

It's that time of year when school can be delayed or closed due to weather conditions. If there is a delay or closing, you will receive a call from our automated calling system to the phone number you provided to our school. Please be sure the office has your current phone number.

School Breakfast

Chartwells Food Service for the Warren Township schools, would like all to know that breakfast is available to ALL students for free in the classroom. If you have any questions, please contact Haley Quade via email at hquade@warren.k12.in.us.


Monday, June 3rd is Warren Township's last day of the regular school year (barring no further

weather closings). This date has been extended due to the following weather closings: November 15th and January 30th. All students will be dismissed early on this day.

Grades 5 - 12 will be dismissed at 1:30 pm

Grades K-4 will be dismissed at 2:30 pm

If a student has accrued a substantial balance, the student will be provided a choice of two alternate meals at a reduced rate of $0.50. Parents may check student account balances by using the link provided to the Lunch Parent Portal.
