Items of Interest
- Please join me in giving Student Council Leadership, Coritta and Veronica a HUGE THUMBS UP for such an inspiring and wonderful start to our Student Council Program at Neil Armstrong Elementary School. You two worked very hard, and it paid off!!!! I would also like to acknowledge Cecilia, Courtney, Jeff, Mike aka Mr. Usher, Shannon, and Veronica's Son for sharing their insight, time and talent to help their fellow Astros! Helping one another whenever possible and cheering each other to success is more than just one of the eight expectations, it is what WE DO!!!
- I'd also like to give three cheers to our PBIS Leadership, Courtney and Jabari and their amazing team mates, Nate, Ashlee, Sarah, Michelle, and Audra for a great PBIS Kick Off Celebration this past week! Human Tic Tac Toe was a lot of fun, and like the students I look forward to learning what you have in store this school year.
- Thank you to our NAES SIP Team Members, Michelle, Audra, Ashlee, Kristen, Toinette, and Palatrice! At the end of the day it is so hard to drum the energy for another meeting. But you all are amazing, and to witness your passion and talent and skill set regarding a critical part of what helps us take NAES from Good to Great makes it worth the additional 2 hours.
Cancer Awareness Month: The month of October kicks off Cancer Awareness Month. Thank you to our Grade Level Department Chairs, Ashlee, Cindy, Toinette, Nate, Kristen, Palatrice, and Audra for putting our heads together so we may help ESD #159 recognize this second out of four charity events for the school year. We will do our part by having a Spirit Day at the end of each week for the month of October in which we bring awareness to the most concerning types of Cancer as follows: Breast (PINK), Childhood (Yellow), Brain (Grey), and Liver (Green). At the last school day for each week, students will be encouraged to wear the noted color. Please take care to share this information with your families via Remind and/or Class Dojo. Additionally we will have an assembly for grades 2-5 on *Friday, October 4th. Thank you Audra for organizing this informative session for our students (in the process of confirming if the assembly will be 10/4 or 10/7). Lastly, we will have various grade levels color ribbons that represents one of the four types of Cancer as shared. More information to come...
Goals: As a friendly reminder, I extended the submission of goals to Monday, September 30th. Thank you to those who provided a copy to Michelle and I. If you are being evaluated by me or if it is your "off" year, please send me your goals. If you are being evaluated by Michelle, please send her your goals. All certified staff should have a total of three goals, two academic, and one professional. The template was provided in last week's Friday Focus.
