First Day of School- Wednesday, August 23rd 8:45am-1:45pm
Class/Teacher Placements
***Reminder- There are many contributing factors that go into the making of classes. The personality of the student and teacher, how many students are receiving additional services, how many boys and girls are in the class, the academic levels of the students, the behavior levels of the students, additional services students need, which students had a tough time getting along with specific students the previous year, which kids socialize more when they're around specific students, the involvement level of the parents, the personalities of the parents etc...
Therefore, we don't accept change requests. Any changes would not only affect the child and the teacher's classroom they're moving to, but it also affects other students, the schedule of the support needs of students, the culture of the new class, and may have an effect on the teachers schedule itself.
We suggest for parents to do a few things if they have concerns:
1.) Meet with the teacher with an open mind to voice your concern. Be very specific.
2.) Understand that in elementary school we're preparing children to be able to adapt to multiple teachers with different personalities. This is excellent for the social development of the child.
3.) Establish a communication plan with the teacher in regards to providing updates on the area(s) of concern.
4.) Most importantly, understand that we all have the same goal; for your child to receive a stellar education, in a safe and nurturing environment, and for them to reach their full potential.

Welcome Back Message from Principal Chabola!!
Welcome Back Lin Howe Sea Dragons!!!
As we begin the 2023-2024 school year there we are excited to see changes around our campus to continue to strive to meet the needs of our students and families. This summer we installed new safety doors to the front of school that will limit the access to our campus. We have created a family resource/conference room just outside of the main office. This room will have computers and printers for any of our family members that need access. We have upgraded our middle rooms to create additional welcoming learning environments for our students, and we installed digital clocks in both the courtyard/lunch area and on our playground. These will help our students with their time management.
This summer I was able to take some time to continue to grow as a leader, educator, and colleague in a number of ways. I took time to participate in a webinar on Trauma informed practices. I read a book on how we can strengthen our instructional programs to best meet the needs of all of our students. One take away from the book is that we should focus on a smaller number of priorities in order to increase our probability of impact.
From our Lin Howe family surveys last year one of our priorities is getting more science instruction into our classrooms. We are going to accomplish this through our purchase of hands on Mystery Science materials as well as hands on Stem Bins. The other major area of focus will be on implementing “What I Need” (WIN) time into our classrooms. WIN time is intended to have a set amount of time in which students receive instruction to meet their needs. This could look like small group reteaching, small group acceleration, or small group intervention. This year we will continue with our Fundations focus in TK-3rd grade systematic phonics instruction. With the new California Math Framework, we will have a major emphasis on math facts throughout our classrooms. And we will continue with building communities and offering leadership opportunities for our students.
As we continue to strengthen our inclusion program, we will have inclusion teachers focusing on grade level specific support. This will allow our teachers and inclusion teachers the ability to work closer together to meet the needs of all of our students. We will be able to find common time to plan and prepare as a team for the betterment of all of our students.
We are looking forward to welcoming our new students, new families, and 6 new staff members (some already families with Lin Howe). The building of relationships will continue to happen in the classroom, across a grade level, across our site, across our staff, and extend to our families and community.
As your proud Principal, I hope that you know that as we begin this year,
ALL of us, STUDENTS, STAFF, FAMILIES, should BELIEVE that:
WE ARE KIND
WE ARE SMART
WE ARE BRAVE
WE ARE CONFIDENT
WE ARE CAPABLE
WE ARE GRATEFUL
WE ARE LOVED
WE ARE ENOUGH
My commitment to all of you is to continue working meaningfully each day for our students, staff, and families for our beloved Lin Howe Community. Looking forward to a great year!
WE ARE.....LIN HOWE!!
Sincerely,
Mr. Casey Chabola
Principal Lin Howe
