Shopping Trip Holiday Collection
For several years, students and families at Banner have generously donated money towards the purchase of toys for families needing assistance. This year we shall once again collect money to purchase toys for children in our community. From December 2 through December 16, money will be collected for this project. On Monday, December 16, the entire Banner school will visit local stores and shop for toys using the money collected, and then the students will deliver the toys to the Children’s Home. Our goal is to raise $4,000 for this great cause.
If you wish to donate money, please send your contribution to your child’s classroom teacher between December 2 and December 16. It would also be helpful to send the money in an envelope marked with “Holiday Collection.” Checks can be made out to Banner Elementary.
Specific information regarding this all school activity will be provided closer to the trip. All students will be included in the activity whether or not they wish to participate in the voluntary contribution of money.

Parent Volunteers
If you would like to volunteer with field trips, library, classroom parties at the Dunlap schools, you will need to complete the online application on the Dunlap District website. After completing, the District Office will contact you regarding fingerprinting. Please let the Banner office know that you have started the process. We suggest you start this as soon as possible as it does take some time to process everything. You must be approved before you can take part in an activity.

DHS Monthly Cookie Sales
The Life Skills Transition class will once again be coming to schools to sell fresh cookies. There are two cookies in a bag and it sells for $1.00. The cookies are chocolate chip and carnival. The primary focus of the Transition program is to serve as a bridge to adult living. We teach the students the skills they will need to live as independently as possible and be contributing members of their communities. The cookie business provides an opportunity to practice both vocational and social skills in a real life setting. The proceeds from our sales go towards buying groceries to use for weekly cooking lessons and allow us to go to different places to learn how to navigate and access the community. We appreciate all of the support that we have been given and we look forward to coming!
