Parent Information/ Reminders

I hope that everyone had a great holiday break and a happy new year. I am so excited to see what is to come in this new year and I look forward to seeing how much your children will grow between now and the end of the school year. They have already grown and learned so much in the time they have been in my class. Just a reminder there is a teacher/student holiday on Monday, January 18th as we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.

What are we learning?


  • Opinion Writing
  • Leaving spaces between words
  • Stretching out words
  • Starting sentences with a capital letter
  • Ending sentences with some form of punctuation

~Language Arts

  • Identifying first letter, last letter and vowels in between
  • Sounding out words
  • Vowels and their two sounds


We are continuously practicing how to..

  • sound out words
  • using picture clues to help us with unknown words
  • Retelling a familiar story with characters,setting and evens that happened in the story

*We will be starting spelling assessments to help the students learn their sight words. The students will be sent home with a list on Monday of between 5-10 words. This will help me to see who is grasping the words and who still needs more help.
