Message from the Superintendent

Big picture

Dear Topeka Public Schools Staff and Families:

Thank you so much for the incredible year. The School Board members and all of our staff congratulate all of our graduates! We'll be sharing an end-of-year video message on our social media channels on the last day of school next week.

Our promotional ceremonies for preschool are occurring this week and next, and it has been wonderful talking with many of our PreK families at the various ceremonies. Last weekend's graduation celebrations were amazing, and the elementary and middle school leaders attended in celebration of our scholars.

We thank all of our retiring staff for their dedication to Topeka Public Schools. Some of our retirees such as Ms. Diane Leupold, served in the library media department in our district for over 40 years, and a group of current and former librarians have established a scholarship in her name to honor her.

A heartfelt message of gratitude and love is extended to Ms. Morrisey, who remained throughout the pandemic, ensuring the students impacted as 9th graders successfully graduated this year. She is ending her 40th year in education, and we wish her a wonderful retirement with her grandchildren.

In addition to the many celebrations, congratulations to our athletes who won championships this week on the Topeka West High School tennis team and the Topeka High School baseball team.

Thank you for your love, support, and commitment to making this a very special year! We look forward to seeing students in June at one of our many summer programs.

Have a wonderful summer!

Dr. Tiffany Anderson

Superintendent

Topeka West Takes 1st Place in 5A State Tennis Championship

Additionally, twin brothers Ian and Miles Cusick dominated the court to win a 5A State Tennis Championship in doubles for the second year in a row.

The Topeka West tennis team members are an inspiration on and off the court, with class valedictorian Carter Cool and the Cusick brothers opting to compete in the State Tournament instead of attending their high school graduation ceremony, as they did not want to let down their teammates.

Coach Kurt Davids, Coach Shon Daniels, Athletic Director Richard Mariani, and the six tennis team members were honored by the Topeka Public Schools Board of Education on May 18.
