This Week at MHS
Here's what's happening November 1-5th!
Dear MHS Parents and Students,
Senior night at the game Friday was another opportunity to recognize our outstanding senior class and their parents. Thank you for the leadership you show each day - both on the field and in the classroom!
This week we honor the Veterans in our community with our annual Veteran's Day Assembly. We set aside this time each year to remember and show respect for the sacrifice so many have given to our great country.
We want to wish our Cross Country Team and our Cheer Team the best of luck as they travel to State Championships this week! Cross Country will run at Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville on Thursday. The Cheer Team will represent MHS in our first State Championship in Murfreesboro on Saturday. We are so proud of these student athletes! Go Maryville!
Congratulations to our Football Team for an outstanding regular season! We look forward to cheering you on this Friday at the first round of the playoffs versus Dobyns-Bennett.
Interested in a great musical production? See the information below about Mamma Mia, and come out to support the arts!
Wishing everyone a great week at Dear Old Maryville High!

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
A reminder to senior parents that some college deadlines (particularly Early Decision or Early Action) are approaching quickly. Once your child submits an application, please remind him/her to indicate that in the SCOIR platform so counselors can send transcripts and other supporting documents. The deadline to complete the TN Promise Scholarship application is November 1, 2021. No exceptions! Please visit tnpromise.gov for more information and to apply. Are you a parent of a UT bound student? If you think your child may be a candidate for the UT Promise Scholarship, he/she must complete the TN Promise application by November 1, 2021 and the UT Promise application by December 15, 2021. https://tennessee.edu/ut-promise/ Applications for the 2022 Governor’s School programs are now available. The TN Governor’s Schools provide 11 challenging and high-intensity programs which are hosted at area colleges for a short time during the summer. Only sophomore and junior students are able to apply. MHS can nominate high-achieving 10th and 11th grade students who are in the top 5-10% of their graduation cohort for these competitive, academic summer programs. The MHS deadline for Governor’s School application packets is Friday, November 19. Late submissions will not be considered for Governor’s School nominations. Please note: if the application requires a teacher recommendation, encourage your child to have a face-to-face conversation with the recommending teacher BEFORE giving them the recommendation form. The teacher must be given at least 10 school days to complete the recommendation. Therefore, the recommendation form must be in his/her hand by November 5 in order to meet the November 19 MHS school deadline. All Governor's School packets will be finalized by students' assigned school counselor. Please instruct your child to complete all steps in the packet and turn everything in to his/her assigned counselor by November 19. For more information about individual Governor's Schools and to access the applications, please access the link here: https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/education/instruction/tdoe-governors-schools.html?mc_cid=0193dfbaba&mc_eid=92885cfccd
