10th Grade Career Event Nov. 1st
Scituate High School will host its annual cluster-based Career Awareness Program for all 10th graders on Thursday morning, November 1, 2018, coordinated by Mrs. Linda Silva, School-Based Coordinator and Mr. Dan Casey, school guidance counselor.
Based on the students’ career interest surveys, there will be eleven career clusters represented this year. They are Architecture and Construction, Arts, Business, Education, Engineering, Government and Public Administration, Health Science, Hospitality, Human Services, Information Technology, and Law.
Students will attend three different sessions based on their personal top three cluster choices. In a press release, Linda Silva stated, “Career exploration is the first step towards obtaining a successful career goal, and we are excited to have the students learn more about the hot jobs in these career clusters.”
This event is all about career awareness and exploration that will help students investigate the world of work and make informed decisions for their future. According to Mr. Casey, from the school perspective, it is imperative that our students understand what types of job training and careers exist for their field of interest in this ever-changing economy. Having the opportunity to meet and ask significant questions from individuals in various career fields can not only ensure that students are interested in certain fields, but also open up new doors and expand on post-secondary options as Spartan students prepare for college, career and life.”
“We are excited about this program; we have enthusiastic presenters who are passionate about their careers and are motivated to share their information and knowledge with our tenth graders. We thank these presenters for helping to make this event such a success.” - Mrs. Silva and Mr. Casey.
