Definition
Tsunami- a long high sea wave caused by an eartquake, submarine landslide, or other disturbance.
Negative Effects
-On natural ecosystems or ecosystems
Tsunamis can sweep away trees, make small, low islands, uninhabitable,break coral reefs, and can kill many animals.
-On humans
Tsunamis can cause mass deaths from drowning, large amounts of property loss, and disease created b stagnant water.
Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition From Tsunamis
When tsunamis wash in they can weather down mountains, erode islands, and deposit soil all over the planet.
The Great Indonesian Tsunami
This event happened December 26th, 2004 on the Indian Ocean near Indonesia. What happened was a 9.0 magnitude earthquake under the Indian Ocean caused a massive tsunami that caused 150,000 people to o missing or die. It also caused mass property loss and moved trillions of tons of rock hundreds of miles.
